hi all
i am trying to service my car but i carnt find the right key to get the sump plug off,is it a special bit from fiat?can you buy this from anywhere?does anyone know the size?

thanks Danny

Hi Danny,

eLearn doesn't say anything about a special tool, either for petrol or diesel. If your car is a T-Jet then you seem to need a deep socket of the appropriate size, as the plug has a hex head and is in a deep recess in the sump. The drawing for the M-Jet seems to show a hexagonal recess for an Allen Key. I don't know what size, but apparently its an M14 thread. Seems you have to remove the under-engine protection, which is 8 bolts  Not fun without a lift.

ye i took the under panel off and everything all i had left to take off was the sump plug,my dad has loads of them hex tools but none would fit so thats why i thought it could be a special tool,i have a multijet, can u tell me the website you found this out on please? o and thanks for replaying mate

Danny,
The following is taken from the eLearn CD, not a website. As there is no mention of a "special tool", I would assume its just normal Allen key, presumably metric. I cant imagine Fiat using imperial. From the picture, maybe 5.5mm or 6mm

I have not done servicing for a while now..
But the tool you require is 8mm hex/allen key, and depending on how harsh the people that have removed it before have been it may feel loose it may not..

Oh and be prepared you may find that the thread comes out withthe sump plug due to people over tightening it to much.

Not trying to scare you, just prepare (y)

what do you mean the thread will come out with the sump plug? i only wonna service my car dont wanna cause loads of work and damage,

thanks danny

The thread can come out with the sump plug if it has been excessivly over tightened... its a alloy sump(cheese) with a non-alloy sump bolt/plug(knife).

It's just something i have come across many times, and just wanted to pre-warn you.

Chances are it will probably be fine.
