Technical Aerial Booster

Can anybody tell me if there is any aerial booster installed in the new bravo?
I try to look for it in the e-Learn but I couldn't get anything.

My doubt is dued to the fact that I changed the HU and I get a weaker FM reception.
Well I didn't check if when the factory HU was power up there was any 12volts coming out of the aerial lead.
Can anyone give me a clue.
I don't want to buy a aftermarket aerial booster if there's already one installed that just needs a 12volts feed.

Well... after all the answers on this thread I plugged in the original Visteon HU back and switched it on.
Unplugged the aerial cable and with a multimeter I measured 12 VOLTS !!!!! coming from that little hole.
CONCLUSION: YES! there is a preamplifier somewhere in the car I suppose near the Aerial.

So a piece of advice: If you change the HU don't forget to buy a tension inserter (similar to the VW or even that one) and plug it in and connect the blue wire to the blue wire coming for the new HU so that the reception either FM or AM is done perfectly.

Just a thought, does your head unit have an option to put 12v power on the aerial socket. I know my PVR has that option for powering a TV aerial preamp.

Unfortunatly it hasn't that option but I bought a 12volt inserter already and I'm going to try it tomorrow.

On eLearn, the location of radio components shows "Aerial Power Supply". I think the preamp is built into the aerial base!

What is a tension inserter?? I can no longer recieve mw stations and I'm really missing talk sport. I've googled it and nothing comes up.

Well, I've installed the 12volt inserter and the only difference is, I now can tune the AM stations but not much of improvement on FM ones.

Hi. Can anybody tell me how to fit the 12v inverter. I've bought one as shown in the link above but struggling to work out how to fit to Ariel. I know that the blue wire connects to remote wire on stereo. Is there some sort of adapter to fit the little green adapter to Ariel lead.

if its anything like the stilo it may involve chopping the ariel wire and soldering on a new socket
