Technical Front Suspension Knock

My bravo has developed a knock at the front end over speed bumps and large pot holes. Seems to be on both sides. Does not do it on cobbles ect.
Seen a couple of threads on here but never seemed to get a resolve.
Theres no play in anything, not even in the drop links

Any ideas,

How exactly are you checking the 'play'?

Could be anything from a loose undershield to steering rack, best thing to do is take it to dealer for inspection.

Yeah Ive got that knock aswell and sometimes a swishing noise which i think are the same noise

i get it on speed bumps and braking

To me it sounds like the exhaust knocking on the body but when i got my alloys changed i had kwikfit check that

Its not been so noticible in the last 2 days, maybe because the radios on

The post seems to suggest its the sport model that has this

My dealer is going to call me a week after delivery[thursday] I will mention this to him and see wht he says

Been to the dealers & local garage. No Play. Will need componets swapping which is chargable, 3rd year warranty dont pay for that.
True it seems to be on sport models, Strange.

I have already had shockers and top mounts/bearing replaced.

Its been raining here since I got my car so dont know if its only when its wet

But tonight the noise made me think its maybe not suspension and maybe the inner arch protectors moving

Or whats different down there in a sport that could make such a knock

i was out last night in the rain and when going over speed bumps its defo coming from the top end of the strut and i did think it could be some plastic trim to.
I mean how could the wet cause a knock on a suspension component?

Ok so what we need is an ELF to sit on the engine with the bonnet off in a raincoat and listen for where the noise is coming from

I did this years ago with my wife driving my mark1 escort, it had a squeak that was real annoying. we went up the local industrial estate, took the bonnet of and drove around with me on the engine till i found it was the heater fan turning really slow and squeaking

The fix was to have the fan on the lowest setting all the time

I've spoken to my local dealer about the same problem. Apparently it's caused by a fault anti roll bar drop link that's covered under warranty. You can get them replaced

Dynamo : did you manage to fix the arch protectors? One of mine doesnt clip the arch properly and I cant see how to adjust any fittings to make it fit better. It rattles over rough roads and in all this rain Im getting some water spraying up through all the gaps and sometimes over the battery area .
Bravoruss: Interesting, i had the droplinks replaced on my stilo at about 7k (and afterwards every 40k or so, but I started using aftermarket links which seemed to last lonnger)

Yeh, I know about links. Think i will get local garage to fit some for me and see how it works out, not hopeful though, but a least i will get something changed and dont cost much either, and this rules out another item.

Sorry 850 i was just thinking the noise may be the arch protectoers but never looked at them yet

Its your drop links .. mine knocked and garage replaced them under warenty ... now no knocking

my son tjet 150 has knocked since he had it from new, been to dealers 3 times and they cant find it :bang: he has a custom exhaust and it knocked before and after it was fitted, it only happens in wet damp weather.
i would love to know if someone can answer the mystery that would be great

Raining tonight and im getting double knocks so its a phone call to the dealer tommorrow and will mention the drop links
