Technical Front Suspension Knock

Technical Front Suspension Knock

My dealer today changed the drop links but they found the noise still there

They delved deeper and think they may have found an answer

They found a pipe/tube of some description running down the bulkhead which was hiiting the body when he suspension was jolted. Why this would only be when its wet is beyond me though but they did hear the noise anf they say its stopped.

Now im not saying this is sorted as they still have the car for the bearing issue but im ever hopeful. I did say to them it might not be the suspension knocking.

They just cable tied the tube tighter so maybe worth looking yourselves guys

Dynamo 150:Did the garage deliver the car to you.If yes what about the noise? Some guys have writed about a grease for the door's noise can you name the brand please?

And something else:I have a noise to the co-driver's door right up from the speaker when i listen to a song whith to many bass.I have found the spot and when i puss it ,it stops. Is there anyone else who has this noise and he fixed it.If yes ,how?

Sorry they still got my car till the whine is sorted

Its just silicone grease for the door any make or spray silicone like they use for the window seals

The bass noise will probably happen to any car if the bass is too high, but i will bet theres a polythene sheet behind the door card which is rattling m8

Thank you very much dynamo150
Anyone else please?

Because my technical knowledge is very limited what is the anti roll bar,the drop link and the arch protectoers?

I am sorry for all these questions but i am going to the garage tomorow and i must have something to say to them.

P.S.If you don't want to write a link would be helpfull

An anti roll bar is a bar of metal which runs from wheel to wheel. It works like a torsion bar and stops the car rolling from one side to another

It is connected to the lower suspension strut usually by the use of what they call drop links which is a small bar with rubbers on both ends

Inner arch protectors are plastic covers under each arch which stop the dirt from getting to the bodywork

My dealer changed the drop links and the noise was still there so they investigated more and came up with the tube hiiting the bulkhead. as ive said i dont know if this has worked as they still have the car but they swear it has, Fingers crossed

Where is this tube? When you say ''hiiting'' you mean hiting or heating. What exactly does this thing. Please excuse if i am geting annoying but i want to know.Thank you very much for your time.

Have not seen this tube personally and he did not let me know exactly which tube it was but the service manager said it was hiting/striking the bulkhead

Anti-roll bar changed & been over silly amounts of spped bumps by me and not even a squeak!!

More than Happy

Mine is going back to Fiat in the morning to have my knock reinvestigated.

Just got back. Diagnosed anti roll bar drop links. Going back in the new year to have them fitted.

I purchased an 09 Bravo 1.6 Multijet with 2,000 on the clock from an offical Fiat Dealer just over four weeks ago (£12,000 roughly - with bluetooth phone equipment and rear parking sensor fitting a term of the deal)

From day one, there has been a 'knock' noise from the front offside wheel area.

The knock can be heard when I turn right, also very occasionally a speed bump will do it.

My model is the the 'economy' one, so not a sports trim.

Dealer have the thing in again today for a whole day's investigation as they couldn't find anything last time.

I've been really impressed with them to date. I was really hoping Fiat had improved on their reputation for poor reliablilty. I hope I'm not going to be proved wrong.

I'll give them today to sort it - or come up with a reason, otherwise I will reject it in writing under SOG act - which no doubt will mean I will have a fight on my hands.

Well, the car was returned to me today and I was advised they managed to re-create the knock noise once on test drive, but not again.

I don't know who did the test drive, but I can re-create the noise without fail nearl every time.

I've been advised not to worry as the car is under warranty.

I'm still considering my options, but I may pay the AA or other motoring organisation to conduct a car inspection.

I'm sure I'm not being unreasonable in expecting an 09 car worth nearly £16,000 on credit not to have a knocking noise.

i get a knock when its wet... and ive constantly got a creeking when turning the steering from left to right.
Sounds like the anti roll bar is causing the noise but why only in the wet...
very strange that

My knocking seems to have gone away alot after the bumpy roads caused by all the snow.

So I am slowly coming round to the possibility that it may have been the bushings.

ps. The Bravo with its big wide wheels it truely rubbish in the snow, once it gets going its fine but I have had some comedy situations of not being able to move. Good times :)

I must say, my Bravo is excellent in the snow and ice.

My partner has a brand new Focus, which could not make it out the drive, in car parks that were snow covered. When it did manage to move the ESP / traction control was constantly on. It felt like the back end was going to swing out any time. Even with ESP partially disabled, the Focus was crap.

On the other hand, my Bravo sailed through the same conditions effortlessley.

Add mine too. 1.4 Dynamic (not T-Jet). Just bought used one, 7k miles, knocks like a good 'un on front offside. Interestingly only seems to do when hitting a bump (like a speed bump) and not when it drops in to a hole. Been in dealers today - can't find anything, but then they said that when I had a similar thing on my GP! Will go back with comments from this thread - anyone now got the actual reason?

Also have a problem with 'drivers window seal' - see seperate post
