Yes twice in one year, so far.
Lost my job of 28 years in April. Then went to college for 3 months to get a City and Guilds in plumbing.
Thought I had cracked it working for a Building and council contracts company as a plumber. But he run out of work and I had to go.
NO WAY! Will the Bravo go, I love it. Just got to spoil it a little with all my tools for a while.

If you got the Plumbers ticket mate go self employed, its exactly what I did a few years back in the last recession and it was the making of me TBH. (not as a Plumber though...)

Posh Plumber eh... quicker to the jobs too mate, and if you go self employed you can off-set the running costs and some of your housing costs too as a sole trader.

Are you CORGI or whatever the current equivalent is registered?

Nah! Gas Safe takes another 20 weeks at college, I stopped at General Domestic Plumber because that was enough for the company I started with, they said they would fund further traing once the work load slowed a bit. But then they thought again and got rid of me instead. Probably their intention all along.
I might fund it myself yet, still mulling it over.

Good advice FFOXY.

But I have never been self employed and I need to investigate a bit. I am certainly going to start by advertising locally and see what happens.

I have been spoilt all these years, just coming home and not having think about work. Just doing 142 shifts a year.
Now I see myself having to go out and quote for jobs instead of sitting down with a glass of red.
