Hi Folks

I took a test drive of a Bravo that I'm after today. Drove great except for a possible brake issue.

I noticed under light braking there was a small amount of judder which you could feel through the pedal and the steering wheel. Said as much to the guy who was with me during the test drive and he said feel free to have a go at some hard breaking. Everything appeared normal when I did.

After this the judder had got noticeably better and the sales guy explained that it would be rust on the brake discs as the car had probably been sitting without being driven for a while. They had just got the car in yesterday. Does this sound right to you guys? I know my brakes on the Barchetta can be a bit off to start with if it hasn't been driven for a good few weeks and you can see the rust on those discs. So the explanation did make sense.

I don't really want to picking up a car on Friday with dodgy breaks though. Its a 58 plate MJ 150 Dynamic with 10,000 miles on the clock.

Any advice would be much appreciated as I do really need to get this car on Friday as the Panda is gone for good.

Cheers

Jon

That does sound right. If they were warped they would be worse under heavy braking. Also it wouldnt clear up, it would have juddered later on. Did you get any sound from the brakes, like a grinding or anything?

There was a bit of a squeak at one point. Only happened the once right at the start of the drive.

That is consistent with the cleaning of the brakes. I would expect some grinding or squeaking at first as the rust or pad residue is cleaned off, then should be ok.

It should clear up. My Bravo did this when it had two weeks off. On first drive the brakes made an 'orrible noise and even after the visible rust had gone, there was vibration on light braking. This faded to nothing after a couple days of normal use.

Dig back in this section and you'll see my posts about going to see the new model released, booking a test drive then having it ordered. Think I went from viewing to buying in a week.

Too long, I did it all in one day!!!!
Nearly bought a 500 as well, but it was last year and they wont take a penny off, even we about to spend over 30k!!!
