So a month ago I noticed this puddle in my garage, and then checked teh coolant reservoir and noticed it was 1/2 empty. So i went and saw Fiat and they said no, there's no leaks or anything and couldn't explain it. They topped it up and said she would be fine.

Last weekend I was at a euro car club meet and we had the hood open for a giggle at the miniturbo and i noticed the coolant level had dropped about 1/2 inch... anyways lastnite I popped the hood and there was no coolant at all, i gave one of the pipes a squeze and could hear some water movement in them but very little sounds like she's almost bone dry.

Fiat is having it towed to the local dealer tomorrow for inspection... Not really happy as this was the only problems I had ever had with my previous Fiat was the continual coolant issues.

Anyone else had coolant levels suddenly drop?

PS: No the car hasnt been overheating or doing anything strange all week, and it is due for the 25k service.

Just spoke to Fiat Roadside assist, Tow Truck will be here in 30 minutes to take it to the workshop to have it assessed and fixed.

Will post soon with updates :)

Just took 2 photos of the stains under the car...

I put the cardboard box there after I first noticed that there was something leaking.

Just spoke with the Fiat workshop (Euromarque Southport) and have been told that its my waterpump. They have ordered the part and it wont be here till tomorrow and even then they wont have it fitted till tomorrow afternoon.

Which annoys the crap out of me cause at 25k its done a water pump?!?! This frustrates me to no end as this was why I stopped driving fiats years ago because every 15k-25k I would need a new waterpump. I am absolutely fumeing over this!

To make it worse, they have no loan cars available so now I am going to miss out on a tonn of jobs I have to do today & tomorrow.

Its quite annoying but I would be very surprised if it will need changing every 25k. Its more likely to be a dodgy part. I havent heard of a spate of them failing

Well its taking a little longer than expected, so Ive decided to also get its 25k service done while its in there... since I am goin to have alot of driving to do to play catch up with work when I get the car back 2day. Eitherway.. thank god for warranty!

In the latest update... turns out that it wasnt the waterpump that was the problem it was a pipe that feeds into the rear of the waterpump. A clamp had come loose and caused damage to the pipe.. yada yada yada... new pipe on its way.

Meanwhile today (the 3rd day without my car) they provided me with a brand new Alfa Romeo 157, its a 2.4L Diesel in red... nice car, but thank god I didnt opt for diesel on the fiat. The motors quiet when cruising, but around low speeds it sounds like a dam truck! Eitherway, Im pretty happy so far with these guys. I noticed in the car there was a A4 laminated page sayin "You could own this car for $179 p/week* Based off $49,950.00 Price Tag". Dont get me wrong its a nice car, but the finish inside leaves alot to be desired in regards to the materials used. Still the car as a whole is alot nicer than I ever gave Alfa's credit for being.

Just got a call from Dealer, time to go pickup the Ritmo :D *YAY*

Can't wait to get back into my ride :D

Right.. I have her back yay!

So turns out that infact it was the pipe that feeds the waterpump... so just a heads up to anyone loosing coolant it may not actually be the Waterpump it could infact be the pipe that flows into the rear. There is a large O ring and bla bla.. yeh in short make sure your dealer checks the pipe & waterpump... pipe = quicker fix and more likely the culprit.

Side note, getting back into my Fiat from the 159 Alfa... what a difference.. the Fiat feels alot more agile and quick, vs. the heaviness of the Alfa. Still the Alfa was a nice ride, but just too heavy for my liking. That being said one day if Fiat stop bringing new fiats to aus I may just buy an Alfa.

Well its been over a month or there abouts I cant remember but checked fluids yesterday and its allllllllllllllllll good no more leaks or anything :D
