Hi,

Had a rear bulb error & right side light error on my dash display,

Changed the rear bulb, which to me didn't look blown & changed the right sidelight

Started the engine & only now get the right sidelight error, however I got out & checked & the the rear light still isn't working & no light from the front right side light either!

The indicator, Brake light (brake pedal pressed) & reverse light work for that side but not any others.

Thought it might be a fuse blown but looking through the handbook, can't find a fuse listed for it, checked all other listed light fuses & no broken connections.

Help please!:bang:

Anyone else experienced a problem like this or know if there is a fuse for the sidelights & brake light (not pedal brake light) still cant see it listed in the handbook.

Meant to say I did check the new bulbs on the left hand side of the car & they worked fine.

Hi mate,

The fuses control both sides at the same time (with the exception of main beam) therefore if the fuse had gone, then both sides wouldn't work. The sidelights are controlled by the BCU

When you said:
brake light (not pedal brake light)

Which brake light are you referring to?? When the foot brake is pressed with the engine running or the key turned to MAR, you should have 1 brake light either side and the third brake light in the rear window.

Check the bulb connectors are clean and free from corrosion, clean them with some emery cloth or similar. Also check the wiring multi-plug at the rear of the headlight/ rear tail light cluster. Remove the multi-plug and again check for signs water/corrosion. Failing that, you need to get the multi-meter out or a trip back to the dealers.

Hope that helps,
Alan

You have a warrenty, use it.

Call Fiat and get them to fix it.

The brake light I was referring to was the one which stays on when turn the stalk switch to MAR.

Gave the dealer a call today & he said to bring it down, the only reason I didn't go straight down there is because if its something simple which I can do myself, i'd rather do it than go to the dealer & either have to wait around for x hrs or arrange to have it booked in for something that might just need a simple solution.

+ this forum has always given great feedback since my first fiat bravo sx, where some garages would either charge the earth (London) & not fix but add to the problem.

Thanks!(y)

UPDATE:

Took it to the dealer today, checked it out & told me 'there's a fault with my BCU & that they would have to order the part & that it should be covered under warranty' It better be, cos this is through no fault of my own & can't be put down to wear & tear.

Should have the part in a couple of days, just on another topic, might see if my headlights can be realigned & taken up a notch, as like some others I don't think the lights are great on the Bravo. Recently bought some Osram Nightbreakers but haven't installed them yet till this gets sorted.

Will let you know the outcome.

Just to let you know, problem hasn't been fixed yet but now I notice that when I switch my lights on now the the front right sidelight & rear brake light flick on for a few seconds before turning off, from looking at the dash it seems to happen once my car has runs it checks states there's a problem then those lights go off. Its as if the on board system is telling the lights there is a fault & therefore breaking the feed.

It might be somthing to do with resistance - i had the same problem when i tried to use led sidelights in GP - Fault came up on the dash- they were no-name led bulbs bought for 20cents each and they didn't work. Afaik it will tell you that there is a fault if the resistance is too high or too low and cut off power supply to that electrical circuit...

Hopefully you'll get it sorted soon.

Keep us updated when you figure out what part was changed in your car - may be useful for future for people when their cars will run out of warranty.

I did have some SMD LED's installed in my sidelights & the message did read on the dash to check sidelights but they worked & I have read other threads on here about having LED sidelights as long as you dont mind the bulb out message, which didn't really bother me as long as they were working.

Had the LEDs installed for about 3 months then my rear brake light (pedal to the floor) went, changed it no probs, then my other rear brake light went (the one that remains on when lights are on & pedal is raised) then I noticed the front sidelight go, nothing wrong with the bulbs. switched everything back to standard bulbs & I get what I said in the first post & two posts back.

Could have been triggered by the LED but it took 3 months before it kicked in. looking to get some resistors if turns out to be the LEDS because not entirely happy with lighting from the bravo.

this is what mine is doing, coming on for a sec then front and back side and brake light going out on one side.

hi all, i had exactly the same issues. here's how i fixed it..
if the rear light comes on for a sec and then went off, it means you didn't push and twist the new bulb into the correct position as i realised after i re-insert the bulb.after rear light works fine. front side light still shows warning, i decided to swap the left side bulb and it works and strangely everything's back to normal. hope this helps..:)

The exact same thing has happened to mine...... why I don't know

have the same problem, rear left brake light after changed bulb not working,
has anybody know the solution?

Stil havent found the solution. Can I ,connect the right wire of brake light with this faulty left brake light. If the wire had 12V, then it will still have the same power or 6V?

No, you shouldn't really be tapping it from the other side imo as they are canbus operated and its a very sensitive system.

Bumping this from the dead.

I'm having this exact same issue. The rear left brake light (the one that lights up when you press the brake) doesn't work. I changed the bulb (which was ok anyway), still nothing.

Only 6 months out of factory warranty, I would hate to get quoted on a body computer.
