General Right sidelight & back rear brake light not working?

Hi,
i dont know how is possible but after changing the front pads and after adding brake fluid now finally brake light work again! Serviser said that i have unplugled sensor for brake pads checking.. and then he change the bulb and now works.
I was like:eek: wtf...

Try it!

Interesting, as the front pads will need replacing soon and I'm due for the 20.000km service soon.

Around 9L/100Km in heavily congested city, which I find acceptable for a heavy car with a tiny turbo that spools 0.5bar by 1800rpm or so.

I just had a very similar problem which took several hours to rectify.

The yellow bulb indicator came on when I was being quite spirited into a roundabout. I at first thought the bulb had blown, but when I took the cluster apart it looked fine. I tried a new bulb and no difference. I checked the wiring with a volt meter and reading was almost non existent. What was strange though was that the indicator bulb would still work.

I checked fuses etc and all seemed fine. I then found that wiggling bulbs etc I could get either the rear lights to work or the brake light, but not both at once. I also noticed the front side light bulb was going out. I played around with everything a bit more and then it decided to start working again.

What I think is happening is something was causing a short in the circuit which was causing a safety cut out. This would explain the lights lighting up for a second when first connecting and also the front side light going out.

I've no idea what exactly it was, but it has been fine all day today...

I had same problem - offside sidelights and offside reg plate light out.
Because there is no fuse for the sidelights the local garage were baffled, Fiat dealer were baffled (we are not licenced for electrics - WHAT???) so I went to a commercial van and truck garage. They fixed it in 2 minutes with no charge. I had replaced the rear sidelight bulb after warning light came on in the cab. But the problem remained. Cause? I replaced the bulb the wrong way round which meant that the 11 watt sidelight filament was trying to draw the 25 watt brakelight current. It meant also that the brake light continued to work on the 11 watt filament but was dimmer. Result was a tripped circuit. If you look carefully at the bulb you will see that the pimple contacts are offset. Make sure you put the bulb in the right way (look when you take the old one out) and all will be well. Simple - but it took me two weeks to get it sorted in two minutes.

Hi,

I have similar issue like the one described by lilman777.

My right headlight and right stop light suddenly stopped working. I have tried replacing headlight (h1) bulb with new one and it still doesn't work so I am pretty sure that all bulbs are working, and problem is in circuit which has made this mess. Perhaps it is fuse, but as I read in text above, fuse is connected to both sides, so I guess fuse is ok. I will take the car tomorrow to car electrician.

Since I couldn't find exacts solution for this issue on this topic, can someone tell me what could be the issue here? It is very interesting that experiences from other users are similar..

Thank you and best regards!
Adi

Hi. I have a similar issue with a 2009 1.4 Bravo which was dumped on me yesterday.
Both side lights front and rear flash on for a second when switched on, then all sidelight bulbs go out.
After investigation, turns out someone had changed the n/s tail light on the outside of the lamp for a single filament, single contact dimple. These bulb holders are offset on the outside sidelights therefore need to have two contact dimples. You can use stop/tail light bulbs in both (two each side), but then you only get 5 watts, the correct bulb is a double contact single filament 10 watt.

Hello, I also do have a warning light on the dashboard, message Check right side light and in the Body Computer stored failure B100A. But all lights are working fine. I exchanged both front and rear bulbs with the left side, bought new bulbs, no change. I can replicate the error easy with MES/AlfaOBD by running test for the right sidelights. All other tests are error-free.

Connectors at the lights seem ok. Is there any other connector between lights and BC? In the eLearn there is something called B045, which I cannot find. Where is the earth C020A located? Thanks

I had the same problem. it turns out the previous owner had put the wrong bulb in.

it must have to Filaments in it

they had used a 7506 which works but only turns on for a second it has the same mount.

I finally got a 7528 with two connections on the bottom and the same mount and my trouble went away!

Oh and it is the rear brake light that caused this that I replaced.

good luck all..

I have had odd issues like this. In the end out of frustration I changed all the bulbs and things returned to normal. I have absolutely no idea why this should happen. I also have to give light fittings a slap on occasion to make them work. All connections appear tight and clean so again its odd. I put it down to Italian days!! Number plate lights do the same too This weekend, just for once it was actually just one sidelight. I agree with the suggestion it may be down to resistance following a power spike to the un blown bulb, but that's speculation.

Slight bump here and different model, I own a Croma. Had a similar problem, front left parking light gave out and also rear left sidelight/brakelight. Changed rear bulb and the brakelight came back, but the sidelight (same bulb, different filament) just came on for a second and then went out, like others have described here. It came back on when I also changed the front left parking light bulb. So changing bulbs seem to affect other bulbs :).

My turn!

I had a warning for a blown brake light. I changed it but realised that other filaments were not working - I really wasn't paying too much attention at first. In trying to resolve this, I know that different combinations of brake lights and tail lights were and weren't working. I know I accidentally attempted to install the bulbs the wrong way round gently and it would illuminate for a second and I presume the BCM would shut down the circuit - which I presume is it's strategy.

I now have a situation where all four sidelight filaments are working but only the 'bottom' two brake light filaments are. I know that I've seen all but one brake light filament light up (the RHS upper filament) but for some reason the LHS upper has also crapped out. Only the RHS upper brake light fialement has not lit up and there is still no warning light on the dash.

I wonder is it that crappy bulbs are upsetting the BCM? They are 'Ring' which seem to cost a lot less than they should...

I've had the same problem. I found it was because of the led in the parking light in the headlight. It just got better when I put the original bulb
