My dad is set to pick up a Bravo this week, the salesman told him the car was VED band D, but upon entering the registration into the DVLA taxdisc online website, the car is coming back as tax band E, which is the 150 bhp version I told him to buy.

Can you tell the difference by looking at both these engines? I am hoping the salesman was just being a usual worm and my dad is infact getting the 150bhp 16v version.

How about engine numbers? Are they easy to tell between the 120 and 150 bhp versions? I am guessing the 150 being a DOHC will be obvious to look at compared to the 120 version which I presume is SOHC?

TIA

Yes mate, I know that, is it easy to tell the difference between the 2 engines by just popping the hood?

Cheers. How about engine numbers? Is there a prefix that defines them, e.g. my Civic type R has a K20A2 engine which tells me it's a 2.0 197bhp engine.

And I thought a DOHC engine would be instantly recognisable over a SOHC?

Mine has the sticker inside the driver's door shut (near the catch) which states "Multijet 150 Dynamic", your dad's will more than likely have a similar plate. :)

Both engines are dohc, the 120 has a garrett turbine, and the 150 has an ihi turbine. That's the easiest way to tell the difference when you open the hood, read the manufacturer of the turbine. It's easy to read.

Dad loves the car, me too, it certainly shifts. His driving style has changed already too, he was quite a slow driver before, "no need to rush, son...I will get there eventually" is now out the window, replaced by "who is this prat behind me, watch me dust his ass". Not bad for a 60 year old

Easiest is as you're getting in there is a big sticker saying what model it is.

I was correcting him on the easiest way :p
