Hi Bros, I have changed my muffler to a universal 2.5" straight through on my Bravo t-jet 150 petrol verson. Whenever i let go my accelartor at high revs, there will be a loud explosion "Bomb" sound coming out from the muffler. Anyone else experienced this or care to share why is this so?

I dont know much about exhausts but i guess the CAT is there to burn exess gas.. it sounds like unburned petrol being ignited in the warm exhaust pipes creating a minor explosion in the pipe.

A friend of mine has a 3" straight through on his SubaruWRX and it often "farts".

Maybe you could attach a sportscat ???

I presume you mean you just changed the back box and the cat is still in place (y)

but perhaps there isnt as much back pressure now so its allowing some detonation to occur record it on your phone and put it on you tube then link it to here

Sports cat would not be possible as engine check light will appear. In Singapore, currently cant find any street legal mufflers except novitec. Which i would rather go illegal. If lack of back pressure, should change back to original?

Sports cat should not bring on an engine warning light providing it's giving enough catalyst. Having a fake cat would!

A turbo engine shouldn't require any back pressure, they will pop on over-run and having no rear back box will mean it'll be loud.
