My 2008 Bravo has just started developing a knocking noise from the front nearside suspension, not bad at the moment but getting worse, mainly over potholes and speed humps, anyone else had similar issues, will take it into the dealers over the hols but wanted to see if this is a common thing. The cars done around 2500k if that makes any difference ??
Cheers for any feedback (y)

Yeah drop link's.

Seems to be a common problem on the new Bravo.

It's a suspension part. It's not vital if left for a short period of time so will be ok to use for the time being until you get it in for repair.

It's a simple repair and will all be done under warrenty. Half day at the dealers and it'll be as good as new.

Had mine done when it went after about 10,000 miles.

Thanks guys.. i`ll get it checked (y)
Had mine lowered recently so not sure what the dealer will say about it though.

Final straw im afraid..
Took my Bravo into the dealers ( for 3 days ) to have the suspension knocking checked and the brakes also appear to need bleeding too, but quess what.. they told me that they`ve checked everything and alls as it should be cant find any problems.. :bang:.
DO THEY REALLY THINK IM THAT `GREEN` !!!!!!
The knocking is starting to increase in volume and the brakes have gradually become more spongey... hmmm.. had enough of the Bulls**t now and got me a new car on order, albeit at a huge loss in depreciation
So i bid you all fair well and hope you all have a happy motoring experience, unlike what i`ve had unfortunately, but we live and learn hey.
Some may say good riddens to my moaning, but i just speak my mind.
CIAO as Fiat say..(y)

What have you gone for to re-place it ?????

Took mines in 2 days ago and just got it back today.Tech couldnt find any trouble with drop links etc or even noise in test drives (35 miles worth!!) so ended up going in today and spoke with Tech and had an hrs talk with him and found out that theyre was a few bolts loose!! The steering rack bolts were loose on drivers side, cradle bolts were loose and near side wheel arch liner was loose aswell as bonnet latch not securing bonnet very well!!

My car has covered a grand 4500 miles in almost a years ownership and they tried to bill me for all work carried out! It was also in for bad gear change when hot and cold but again after long talk with Tech turns out they have straight cut gears in them to my amazement as thats normally put into much more powerfull cars not your everyday car :)

Ended up with a good shouting match and walked away without paying a thing so im happy now.Re-map,exhaust and filter soon me thinks as its far too slow for me,bought for the misses :p

hey there snedboy, see your from dundee too! (y) small world!!!

im guessing you were dealing with arnold clark on balfield road with the bravo?, they will try and bill you for everything they can, my sei was taken in as part of a recall and they tried to bill me for looking at it, even though they didnt....... then when it went back in. they tried to bill me for both that AND the previous visit, even though fiat hq had told them it was recall work , anyway i just grabbed the keys off the desk shouted i wasnt paying a thing to the robbing so and so's ;).... then stormed out, surprise surprise, they havent ever been in touch again (y)

they are pretty useless, and the techs are totally clueless, i had to show him where half the stuff was on my car, and then had to explain what should be done, even though he had the job sheet in his hand!!!.... i will never go back there again (n), i was planning on buying either a 500 or panda 100hp, but decided id rather not give them the custom.

Yip thats the ones pmsl

Tech i had was spanish so really knew his stuff.I know too much about cars i think at times lol and he went right into detail about how the box works etc with me so i fully understood why the gearchange is notchy. He said they can add an additive with gearbox fluid that does help but even then he admitted for the money its prob not worth it really.I refused anyway as i understood with it having straight cut gears no matter what you do your always gonna have the chunky feeling to the box

Got your PM aswell so checking that out (y)

That guy must be new there, hooray, they actually have a technician that knows something! :D

i knew i was in trouble when he was talking and trying to explain what work they may do if anything was found wrong (the car was in for a fuel leak and tank/line replacement)... he pointed and said "that pipe there would be replaced", to my horror, it was a brake pipe he pointed out, when what he was actually supposed to be looking for was a fuel line :bang:

he then claimed my car had nothing wrong with it and had no evidince it ever had.... despite sitting in a small puddle of petrol, which was slowly dripping from the centre seam of the tank as he spoke!.... anyway, i got it sorted away from them in the end (y)

What have you gone for to re-place it ?????
An 08 plate Vovlo C30 2.0D R design SE, just the job for what i want (y)
Was getting more used to the Bravo over time but the stigma attached to mine what with the dealers and so on just got the better of me, and now im feeling better already. ))

mines been in the dealers this week for the knockng noise. They couldnt find what it was that was causing it, was in for two days. They checked the drop links and they fine, the track rod bushes are fine, everything on front suspension is torqued correctly and no loose trim.

However its still there. mine isnt a constant knocking noise like when the drop links went on the stilo, mine is knocking now just on speed bumps, no matter how slow i go over them.

Yeah, mine too - knocking over speed bumps, some days bad, some days doesn't do it at all - had my service yesterday and just like you, they found nothing... Anybody got any other ides?

Maybe front dampers. I had the same knocking on my past car and after couple of visits in service they finally identified the left front damper was the culprit.

To be 100% sure you need to take your car in to a car service, where they have a damper tester (something like dyno). This device will push on wheels in different strengths and based on the measured values they would be able to evaluate health of dampers.
