Hi all, this my first post!!! be gentle with me ;)

My wife has seen the new bravo and loves it - the thing is we down to see a 57 plate 150 sport for £9995 - it was a beauty - looked inside the showroom window and there was a brand new 120 Active sport in the same colour, same wheels etc for £900 more - arggghhh which one do we go for.

The 120 is tremendious value but the 150 is the top spec car - help please not just 120/150 is the best I have one - go on convince me (y)

is the 120 brand new or pre-reg? if it is brand new, you should entitle the 0% finance (if they still do it.) dont think you'll get this if you buy 2nd hand even from the dealer. But you might get more for your PX if you buy the second hand one, just compare the spec. between the two and talk number with the dealer. I never driven the T-jet, so cant really tell what the different (M-jet owner you see!! :D) But test drive both cars if the extra 30bhp is what you concern.

go for the one with the better options.

I guess the 120 at that price doesn't have much to offer.

check the options you can get on the bravo, cause you might miss them after you get a poor spec car.

The 120 being fresh out the dealer should have 5 years warranty - the 150 is probably down to it's 2nd our of 3 years.

the 57 plate is over priced. i paid about the same as what you saw the 120 at for my 08 sport 150. haggle a bit on the 150 and see if you can get it for less than £9k. what miles are on it?

Parker car guide recon it is underpriced from a dealer (should be £10,700) just under 10K miles on it and getting 1 grand knocked off is a tall order dont you think ? , I have a trade in and when I get finished making it gleam I'll go and see what he offers me for it, do you recon he will give me a good px and also knock some off the asking ? I'm not that experienced in knocking down dealers (only if they dont run fast enough), how the hell do you do it?

Also he wasnt offering 0% finance just 9.9% APR

Whats the deal with the warranty - has it just gone up to 5 years ???

The fiat Bravo should only be allowed off the production line in sport specification.

All other versions look like a 'bigger' 'not quite as cute' grande punto.

Though the big wheels on the active may help.

Take the sporting.

They are both 1.4 Tjet Sports - ones got 120bhp the other 150

The 120 is the active sport to be precise - but the 150 got lots more toys

We've pretty much decided to go for the 150 - now I just have to get a good trade in for my car. Judging by the salesman this may be difficult - any tips or tricks on getting max reduction

be prepared to walk away if you dont get the deal you want. I have bought 3 cars in my life, however been to buy something like 30. When buying the the bravo, i actually haggled and went for 3 bravo active sport 120s, a 1.6 JTD dynamic, 1.9JTD 120 active and dynamic, a 1.4 90, a ford focus 1.6 titanium x (which was cack) and 2 astras, before getting the sport 150.

My sport was being advertised at £13k on autotrader, therefore out my price range, and its an 08. Its about having some balls to keep asking for money off after they say no. I just kept asking to get the price lower, and the part ex price up. They kept telling me it should be £16k blah blah blah but i kept pushing. ( i actually specced the car on fiats website and it came out nearer £16.5k!) I got it for £10500 from a fiat dealer with 6 months tax, then £1500 off that price as px for my car, bravo mats and the 7 months tax from my stilo and kenwood ICE. The sales guy actually handed over to his manager as i was asking so many things. I knew i pushed my limits when he couldnt put mudguards on it coz they cost too much, even when i said throw them in the boot, he couldnt as he would lose money. He actually sold me the car at cost. He even had to alter the paperwork to show my stilo at £1400 and the bravo at £10400 as the stilo would show a loss at auction. (this isnt the first time I have seen invoices fiddled like this to keep accountants happy.)

I also found out that the dealership had basically just had new demonstrators and a lot of new stock delivered and all the current ones out of tax so he needed room for them. This works in your advantage, plus car sales are low. When i picked up the car, they admitted he sold me it at cost to get the sale figure not the profit, and so he could use the space for 500s.

one of the active sports i looked at still had the wrappers on it, 3 miles on the clock, wanted £14k for it. I got them down to £11k then £2k for my stilo and 6 months tax. but i walked as this was too much for me to pay. This was at a different dealers.

dont feel awkward about asking for money off. im no dom littlewood but you need to be convincing enough to keep asking. you cn start in steps, or go for a whopping amount and work backwards, it needs practice, just dont try it the first time on a car you really love. practice on a focus or astra and walk away. you can always walk away. dont panic if they ask you for details, they stop ringing you after a week and leave you alone. Remember, for everyone badgering money off and getting great deals, theres at least 2 people who walk in and pay full price no questions asked. I saw this when collecting mine. A young lad buying a grande, asked for nothing off the screen price, then asked for bodykit and graphics and stereo upgrade and tinted windows and upgraded alloys and didnt ask for a single penny off or any of those add ons for free

2nd hand bravos have a 3 year warranty on them. brand new uns have 5 years and 0% finance- but you dont get nothing knocked off the car

Thanks I'll give a go, next week (hope the car hasnt gone by then), I'll try for £9K minus my PX (hoping for £1500) so £7.5K cash or credit or a mix more than likely - his lot was looking a bit overcrowed when I last went .

He wouldn't budge on the 120 price though not 1 penny, not even if we paid it all in cash (not that we had it) £10880 cheapest in the country :bang:
