As the title says, finances are getting very tight for us, with all the house bills and car insurance, petrol and then the road tax on top, it looks like we will be struggling to keep my pride and joy going.
I see in 2010 the road tax for the Sport Bravo will be £250 the first year ,band going from E to H:(.
The wife wants to see one of these, the new Ford Fiesta.
Big come down from the Bravo.
Going to Ford on Saturday so the wife can test drive one.
From what i have seen so far from part exchanging figures for the 2007 (07) Sport Bravo 150 t-jet they all seem to be about £7930 ish,if that is the case there is no way my Bravo is going.
The base model fiesta is £8,695, the most boring of all the models,so it wont even have those wheels as shown or fog lights and only just over 1 litre engine, so it will be like going back to a Micra we had years ago,all over again, the car was gutless with such a small engine so i expect it would be the same for this.:cry::cry::cry:

you see this annoys me about the way they are handleing tax and using emissions
you buy a car and its taxed at X rate per the system
now i accept things change but not at the way they ramp it up
its the same for me,im looking at cars around the 2000-2002 bracket and now i need to check tax on cars newer than 2000 as i may be paying £200 more per year for the same car if its a few months newer

I don't want to sound like a macho, but I'd never let my wife decide what car I would drive everyday.

The Fiesta with the options and the engine you described is a nightmare. you can barely overtake a girl on her bicycle with that.

I know, but what she has said to me is every car we have had i have picked which i think has been good taste so far lol,but she said its only fair she gets a look in this time rather than me saying thats what i am having whether you like it or not:rolleyes:.
I don't want that fiesta at all it would be like a flintstones car making you want to run to make it go faster(n).
But i think my driving days might be over soon that i had hoped as i have a inoperable back injury which i was hoping would get better for some time now plus just been diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure.
Its only a matter of time before it gets so painful that i cant drive a car at all:(.

Sorry, I just think some choices are better left to the boys.

And sorry to hear about your health problems, does your bravo seat have that additional knob to adjust the center back of the seat ?(sorry don't know how it's called in english, its' a feature made to easy back pains)

Thanks,Yes i have tried adjusting that knob but some days my back is so painful i cant even move my legs without being in severe pain,i have to live with this now and make the most of being able to drive while i can before it is to much for me,42 i feel more like 82:(

Had a look at the new Fiesta yesterday, and it really does look good. Very easy to get comfy behind the wheel too. I gather the 1.6 Diesel is engineered to do without a dual mass flywheel, and is very economical. Sorry people, but this is a very good little car, and in green at least it looks fantastic.

In case anyone cares; I have never, ever owned a Ford - but there's always a first time...

joking, but a good product finds buyers ?

But I bet they still haven't cured their RUST problems... I can't remember the last time I even saw the word rust on these forums. Probably while talking about the Ford KA.

good product finds buyers? Nope, guilable sheep buy Fords.

Will the new Ka be galvanized I wonder? It comes down the same production line as the 500? This is the sort of thing that clinches it for many buyers, me included, and one of the reasons I have never bought a Ford. However, do Fiestas rust much, I don't know? In any case, the new Fiesta is a competitor for the GP not the Bravo.
Wouldn't a higher build car be more comfortable and easier to access; just wondering - very sorry about the health situation by the way.

Thanks for the replies to my health guys much appreciated, well i think its going to be a non clincher anyway because if i am asked how much i am expecting for my Bravo i would start at £9000,which i know for a start they will say no to,otherwise i could just swap cars if that were the case, and as far as i am aware that just isn't done.
I am quite expecting them to offer something like £7000 or even lower in which case i will be telling the wife there is no way my Bravo is going:D

Id imagine that by the time you factor in depreciation & the fact that the Bravo road tax only attracts the high one off payment if you buy it new AFTER the new rules come into play, then you'd be better off hanging onto it.

Plus there's no getting away from the fact that a Bravo wud feel far more exclusive to a Fiesta.
