new mjet engine

Now then folks.

Just did a search to see if this has been posted before. Didnt find one, but my search skills are slack so its probably a repost lol.

Been on the fiat uk forums and spotted this post by fiat marketing

Fiat is evaluating the feasibility for production of Bravo estate (station wagon) version, at the moment no dates have been confirmed yet. On the other note, 1.9 MultiJet Twin Turbo engine has at the present been reserved for the new Lancia Delta (probably in the 190bhp guise), whilst Fiat Bravo will benefit from the all new Euro 5 2.0 MultJet engine in very near future, available with more power than current 1.9 150 bhp, better fuel consumption and lower emission levels.

Thanks for your interest,

Fiat Marketing

Was posted by them yesterday. Apologies if its old news.

Re: new mjet engine

I read ages ago that it was alfa (fiat), that designed the twin turbo used in the new Saabs (when GM had a stake in Alfa). I guess that Fiat own the rights to this engine as well.

As the time it was stated that the engine gave pretty much full power from 2,000 rpm all the way to 4,500.

Hope it's ture, sounds fantastic.....

Must look it up actually.

Shame it will be stuck in a Lancia Delta.. I doubt the UK will buy many of them.

Best the Bravo and probably the Alfas too will get will be a 2.0 multijet pushing out an anticipated 165bhp. The larger Alfas will probably get a 2.5 multijet which I'd guess will be around 220+ bhp.

i wouldn't like to suffer turbo failure when there are 2 of them to replace. Something went through mine, damaged the engine, cost nearly 2K to put right. Why I drive a petrol now. My wife on the other hand went the bravo Diesel...... Please don't break, please.

Ps, all turbo owners, check the fitment of your airfilter after every service, I think mine went as the screws clamping the airfilter housing corroded and broke, possibly a screw went though the turbo, or maybe just airborune dirt. Anyway, out of warranty and a very, very expensive repair.
