I have filled my tank seven times now and done a total of 2750 miles. The on -board computer is accurate ,but I have used a calculator to double check, here are my results,
45 mpg Shell
43.45 mpg Shell
40.8 mpg Total
47.38 mpg All motorway 550 miles on same day
40.65 mpg Total
40.01 mpg Asda
42.1 mpg Shell

I do 75% Motorway miles and 40 miles a day. (20 each way).
How does this compare with your car?
I should add that mine is a 150 Sport MJet

It's not the wheel diameter that makes the difference, it's the tyre width. 225's (17s or 18s) have a higher rolling resistance than the 205's fitted to the dynamic. That said it probably doesn't account for more than 1 mpg!

My MJ150 sport is fairly consistently in the high 40's. Last tank I got 52mpg (I was driving really carefully while the fuel strike was on as Plymouth was hit hard and I do 300+ miles a week to get to work). I do find town driving hits it hard - I did a short fill before the strike, probably 1/3 town, 2/3 Mway & A-roads and got 41 mpg. I do find the trip computer fairly pessimistic, It consitently hovers between 44 & 46 mpg (I reset every fill), around 3mpg below what my calculations at the pumps are telling me. Nearly at 6000 miles now (in 3 months - with a trip to Italy next month:eek:) and as it beds in, the economy does seem to get better.

Does chipping make much difference to economy on the Bravo - my old TDCi mondeo estate would average 55mpg with its chip, beating the official figure of 47 by some margin!

Jings, Crivvens and Helpmaboab!

She must be flooring it everywhere! I'm even managing to get more than that just now on my 150 Sport T-jet...now that the novelty of having a turbo has worn off! lol

Doesn't have to be floored to have them sort of figures, i checked mine the other day and i haven't been on the mway for a small while and it came up as 24mpg ! its catch 22 really, if its floored i guess it would reach them sort of figures, but if driven just around the town, it is coming up with 24 mpg on mine ,thats without the sport button pressed, but having said all that i havent been using 5th and 6th gear this past couple of weeks and that does make a difference.
So haven driven just around the town the past couple of weeks only gearing up as far as 4th gear it has told me it wants to drink a bit more juice, but back to better mpg next week:D

she has two kids in the car and she drives pretty well, our big problem is its all town driving, when i was coming back from stanford i was getting 43mpg, not bad for a petrol :)

like already said, a lot depends on what type of driving you do.

I Regularly get between 32 and 35 in my Tjet Sport. Not too bad i thought as i do like to use the new found acceleration the fiat provides!!!!! Driving is a Mixture of Motorway and A roads including a Crawl into london and Home if i'm in the Office!!!

MY Dealer has offered to look at the car re bad economy, should be getting 50 plus.
But suggested I wait a couple of months.

I got 57.3 to the gallon last week which is part motorway part A roads.

Mind you it is the 1.6 Eco :)

Hi All.

Had my M-Jet 120 since March now and seems to give me the following average figures:

1/ Heavy Right Foot - Between 44-46mpg.
2/ Drive back and forward to work each day (round trip of about 40 miles on 'A' and 'B' class roads, lots of stops and starts) 48mpg.
3/ Long drives at the weekend (200 miles on motorway and 'A' class roads) up to 54mpg.

Diesels definately seem to prefer long monotonous journeys!

i do 650+miles a week, 85% Mway, then fast twisty "B" RD, A272 anyone know?
never drop below 44mpg and I dont hang about, it is a 150Mjet btw.

I love in a town on the A272, it's not a road it's a nightmare !!!

I used to visit friends in Devon, rather than crawl along the A272 I would happily either run along the coast and up the M3 or go up to the M25 and drop down the M3.

The 272 doesn't has passing places, but only if you are overtaking an asthmatic cyclist, they are too small for trucks, busses and tractors (n)

I'd imagine there aren't too many 1.6 diesel owners yet , but I'm quite interested in whether the economy figures are achievable or not.

At the moment I have a 2.0TDI Octavia that up till about september last year was getting about 48mpg (true , not from the trip computer) but since the cost of diesel has risen so much I've been making more of an effort to save fuel. I've seen at least a 10% improvement in economy , but even at 54mpg overall I feel like I'm spending too much on diesel.

I know it will vary hugely depending on your driving style and the roads you use , but I am interested to know if 60+ mpg is realistic. It should be , but you never know....
