Hi,

I have ordered my Fiat Bravo without the parking sensors. The dealer proposed to install the sensors at the dealership. But he said some holes must by drilled into the rear bumper which I don't want. He also proposed to mount the sensors on the number plate as an alternative.

My question is, if I ordered the sensors from the factory would they look exactly like those installed at the dealer (I suppose they are black) ? Or would they come in the same color as the car ?

I have to make the decision of mounting them in the bumper or in the number plate...

If they are from the dealer then they would be black like the ones done on my Bravo, they are only the same colour as the bodywork if they are done at the factory.
Although they are black they look fine, better to have them on the bumper i think, they wont look out of place.

I think I solved the problem neatly...my dealer offered me a Meta Targa SR2 sensor kit which has the sensors on the number plate, no need for holes drilled in the bumper and from the reviews it seems to perform well too (I have not installed the kit yet).

Hi,
First post - just bought a pre-reg (57 plate) Bravo with 12 miles on the clock. Mine came with factory fitted reversing sensors which look quite good (colour coded with the bumper) and work well although the warning beeps are not too loud.

My previous car (Astra SXI) was fitted with the Meta number plate sensors which worked very well and were very easy to fit, you'll have to drill 1 hole in the bumper behind the number plate to fit the wires through but it's hidden when the unit is fitted.

I agree the Meta is a good compromise and I would've used this rather than get a dealer fit if the sensors are not colour coded to the bumper.

The speaker is adjustable for volume, either ascertain where the unit is and adjust the volume with a flat mini screwdriver or ask the dealer to adjust it

Hi,
You're probably correct but since I've just bought the car I haven't got around to poking into all the nooks and crannys - do you know where the reversing sensor head unit is? I suspect it will be behind the trim in the boot?

Incidentally I find it strange that the Astra gets 4 stars in most of the online car review sites and the Bravo generally gets 3. Since I've owned both IMO the Bravo is a much better car.

I can't compare it with the Bravo as I have been fiat for last 10 or so years punto 60SX, 75SX Bravo 80SX 100SX, Stilo 1.6 dynamic and Abarth (both 3 door of course) and now the multijet 150 dynamic. Still getting used to it and in for remap tomorrow, although in fairness there is enough as standard, but I am trying to remove the need for so many gar changes as my left leg is struggling (motorbike accident) more than I thought it would after the selespeed. The biggest single disappointment is the lack of thigh support on the seat which is probably exagerated by my legs and a clutch foot rest would be nice, pretty minor complaints on a hole car. The other area that gives me concern is the paintwork which seems as soft as melted ice cream - if you so much as look at it funny it seems to scratch. I have had it supaguarded and this seems to be helping.
My unit is behind the right side plastic that the parcel shelf sits on, although it was self installed, I would guess that this is where the fitted unit in your car would be. Easy to get to. remove 3 screws and torque screw from plastic accross inner boot and then there are 2 screws holding the side cover on.

Here are the parking sensors as fitted by my fiat dealership, IMHO they look fine in black, goes with the colour of the center section.

Fitted by my fiat dealership, they’re the same color as the bodywork??!!

They look just like the ones fitted at the factory, they do look good, i was told when mine were done that because they were to be done at the dealership they will be black,if i want them the body colour then i have to paint them.
Although i am happy with what they done as i had them free of charge:D

My wife had her's FOC fitted by the dealer on her GP - at least they colour coordinated hers. How much effort would it have taken to get them done?

I know it wouldn't of hurt them really to have done that, but as they were given to me free of charge i couldn't really complain,so long as they do their job they are meant to do then thats OK with the wife and me:D
