Got a 1.9 Multijet 120 Dynamic for a 48 hour test drive this weekend. Quite impressed with it, plenty of grunt and certainly on a par with the Focus which I normally drive on company business.
I was originally going to buy a 1.6 Multijet 120 Dynamic if the test drive went ok. However, the salesman has suggested that he could offer me a very good deal on the test car. Although it is a Sept 07 (57) plate car, it had only done 40 miles when I picked it up. I am taking it back tomorrow and speaking to the saleman on monday. My question is, if I get offered a very good deal on this car, is it worth giving up on the 1.6? Would I notice any huge difference between the two? The only thing that concerns me is that this car will not have the current levels of warranty but I may try to include an extended warranty into the deal.

well, depends on how good the deal is, the 1.9 120 was around 12k when new.

Point taken. The 1.6 mjet can be found for a smidge ove 12 grand on the net so I will base my decision on this.

Hi,

The 1.6 is more refined, less noisy, less heavy in the nose and the 1.6 car does 60-80mph 4 seconds quicker than the 1.9. I myself would choose the 1.6 based on performance alone. But of course it depends what a "good deal" is from your dealer...:)

I must admit, I am still leaning towards the 1.6 for all the reasons mentioned. I will be keeping it for a few years and I don't want to spend that time thinking that for a few quid more I could have had a better car.
The other issue of course is that I am still doing the petrol v's diesel sums at the moment and have not ruled out the Tjet 120, but that's another story for another thread.

Well, if you doing less than says... 15k miles a year, forget diesel, get the Tjet instead, for you 12k, you can even get the 150T-jet!!!

With the way prices are at moment would need more than 15k to justify diesel IMO more like 20/25k. I actually read somewhere other day that someone calculated that you would need to cover excess of 25k/year to cover costs of buying a new diesel car to petrol car and that was someone who worked for RAC im sure it was

I ended up going for the 1.4 T-Jet 150 Sport as i preffered interior, exterior and performance when needed compared to other bravo's so i say go for that you will only regret it in later years ;)
