Hi,

I have now driven both T-Jet 150 Sport and Multijet 150 Sport. My original review of the T-Jet is here:

https://www.fiatforum.com/bravo/148801-i-test-drove-t-jet-150-sport.html

Ok, so I did a test drive with the MultiJet 150 today.

Compared with the T-Jet, it has a little bit more torque but it has some shortcomings. The torque is mostly present between 2000-3500RPM, so you have to change gears often. The gearbox is more rubbery than that of the T-Jet, the clutch a little bit heavier.

The cabin noise is noticeably higher in MultiJet than in the T-Jet. The car feels heavier (and it is about 85Kg heavier). This also translates in a slightly worse braking performance.

The MultiJet has the torque and the fuel consumption on its side. But the T-Jet seems much more refined. The whole driving experience is in my opinion better with the T-Jet. And as a result, I ordered it :).

Cabin noise noticably higher? All the noise in mine is from the tyres - and that drops to nearly nothing on a good surface.

Hi,

Indeed when you are cruising at 1800RPM cabin noise is ok (not if you compare it with the T-Jet though), but at idle and when you accelerate the noise is way more than I would like.

However, I have driven VW TDI, Megane DCI 1.5 and Peugeot 207 HDI and the Fiat's noise is lower than all of those cars (thanks to the good insulation and rigid chassis). I think the noise is normal for a Diesel engine.

As said in previous posting overall it is quiet and crusing on motorway/autostrada etc is very relaxed in the Multijet also with the multijet you will always get 50 mpg not so sure you'll get that from the T-Jet??? Multijets always have loads more torque than petrols as well - did you try the new 1.6 120bhp multijet lighter at the front end more economical and not much given away in performance and mega fuel consumptopn as well as low tax...worth a thought???

I won't start new topic.
I compared T-jet 120 and Multijet 120. Tjet feels much more sport, then diesel and the pool is also better with petrol. I believe 150 Multijet is a diefferent story.. Havent got a chance to try it. Can anyone tell from experience ?

Cheers,
Paladin

Thing is: the Diesel will give much better fuel consumption and pull like a train on long motorway journeys; whereas the petrol will be quick away from the lights, and hardly better 30 mpg if you drive it normally - according the the Forum.

This is a decision that the punter has to mull over long and hard.

As usual this argument is subjective to the point of silly - it depends what you want from a car / your purchase, which by definition is subjective.

I love my 2.0 Mjet for the reasons I bought it, there :p

Interesting, I find myself hardly need to change gear at all in my Mjet, I must be doing something really wrong.

Also from what ive seen on this forum since i been here is the Tjets having all the problems!! cant fault the Mjet at all i love my 150 and now its mapped its even better, also i cant belive that im getting better mpg on the motorways got 63.4mpg at 85mph before the remap the best i could get was 58mpg!! you try get that in a T-jet, its simple the T-jet engine is too small which means weakness too me lol also im a fiat tech so im aware of which is good.

It's quite the opposite. A simple search, if you know how to do it, will show you that topics with problems are more frequently related to Mjets. And the small-engine-weakness theory of yours is...sorry, plain bull**** :)

I must admit.... ive driven the TJET 150 and and ive got the 150MJ

quite purely out of preference to me (y)

the insurance on the MJ worked out a little bit less (£40ish to be exact).... but i do the mileage that makes the diesel more affordable and applicable to me :)

i know at 20 ive got a bit of perhaps an older more family type car then what i should maybe have..... but i can wipe the ass of most smaller cars that look with more show then go :p

i get 45-50mpg on average in mine... going through a mixture of a spirited drive here and there.... to nice slow driving with mum in the car etc :)... if i was in the tjet id probably see early to mid 30's which would be a lot worse and less affordable for me

So what are all the problems with the Tjets then? Ive never heard of any? Where as Mjet its EGR, EGR, EGR, EGR, EGR, EGR.
