General Spacesaver wheel

General Spacesaver wheel

5 year warranty and 0% finance available until 31st March. (y) You can use both deals on the same purchase so there's no better time to buy a Bravo, especially if you want peace of mind for 5 years. I sound like an advert! Fiat should be advertising that on TV, not just as a 1-off advert in motoring magazines. It's a cracking deal that could save as much as £2000 in interest payments and maybe £1000 in repairs if you're very unlucky.

I can't see dealers or Fiat offering a discounted warranty to owners who purchased before the current 5-year offer. Dealers make good money from doing repairs and once you've bought your car why should Fiat offer you a deal that could cost them money? Offers like 5 years/0% are to entice "new customers only" (like that bank advert!) so once they have your money they have no reason to give money away afterwards. It's the same as the spare wheel issue.

Quite often it's the first customers of a new product that lose out when it comes to getting a good deal. I know it sucks because you're doing the company a big favour by becoming an early customer. Take the iphone. Since the launch they've reduced the price and increased its memory.

All very true but i personally think the lack of spare wheel issue is a saftey concern that should be looked into, i have also read that a lot of tyre repair centres either wont repair the tyre or will damage the alloy wheel trying to get the tyre off the rim because of the goo inside.
People that have the new Bravo still with the fix and go who now wish to purchase the wheel and bits needed to go with it should be offered it at a discount or more reasonable price, not £259 !
This is my own opinion, i know some will still think why should they, and its just tough so i should just put up with it and shut up but i cant think that way.
I think its going to be cheaper in the long run to lookout for some secondhand wheels that would fit.

Can't find my space saver!

Does anyone have a Bravo that was supplied with a space saver wheel? I've got a Dynamic but can't find my wheel! Under the carpet that folds up is a large piece of polystyrene foam with a well that looks like a wheel could fit in there. All I can see in there is a fix and go kit.

Is the wheel hidden somewhere else? Underneath the car maybe? Or haven't I been given one for some reason? I did read the manual by the way.

Cheers,
Gary

Thanks Andy. I'll have to take that up with the dealer. It should have come with one 'cos the brochure says so. That's 4 things on my list now.

I just noticed on the inspection form they got me to sign before driving the car away that they crossed out "spare wheel". I didn't see that at the time otherwise I would have said something. Anyone collecting their new car soon, be warned!

I also found a scratch in the paintwork next to the rear window and when I spoke to them about that earlier they said the car is no longer their responsability. Charming! They pointed out I had signed off the inspection form. But without examing every cm of the car and turning it around so the sun reflects differently off the bodywork I couldn't have noticed it. I haven't told them about a tarnished chrome strip yet.

That's bloody criminal. Despite whatever has been said in this thread about the sport having / not having a spare, the brochure clearly states the dynamic does have a spare... Stick to your guns mate...

Looks like I'd better not hold my breath for mine having a spare (n)

I spoke to Fiat directly (through the "live chat" on their website) and they confirmed that all Dynamics since Aug 07 should have a spare as standard.

I then spoke to my dealer and he said he also spoke to Fiat and they pointed out the small print on the back of the brochure. The tiny print that says "specifications can be changed at any time, blah blah". I then pointed out that the brochure inside says the specification will change in Aug 07 to include a spare as standard. I would argue that a specific statement saying the specification will change in Aug 07 takes precedent over a generic disclaimer about specifications. The dealer also said none of the other Dynamics they have on site have a spare. Well that doesn't change the fact that the brochure and Fiat says I should have one.

Suppose the car arrived without electric windows and they point out the small print says the specs can change at any time. No one would accept that and I don't think a spare wheel is any different.

So what's going on? Apart from the left hand not knowing what the right is doing.

The last sentance you wrote is exactly what is going on, no one at fiat seems to be passing messages on to each other, so this is exactly what is going to continue, some say yes, some say maybe, some say no:bang:
From what i have been told by the customer marketing manager, he told me he was told all "Should"have the spacesaver wheel "Including the Sport".

After speaking direct to Fiat who then chatted to the dealer, it turns out that what Fiat told me is correct but here's the real killer... my "brand new" 08 Bravo was manufactured before August 07 and has been sitting in a storage facility with many other Bravos for well over 7 months.

So it looks like I'm not getting the spare after all. :-( They said if I told them before ordering that I wanted the spare they would have requested a new build from the factory. Right, so customers are supposed to go through every feature and function before ordering to ensure it comes with the car?

4 electric windows... check
4 wheels with alloys, plus tyres... check
1 bonnet... check
2 front seats... check
1 space saver spare wheel... nope

What also gets me is the car was sitting in storage for 7+ months. Is this an indicator that Fiat aren't shifting as many Bravos as they should be?

Checked out the Bravo (Ritmo) at the dealer today, they have just arrived in the country. The Emotion spec model has a space saver. Forgot to check the Sport though. The car I looked at was December 07 build.

Troy.

I have been writing on the Fiat.uk forum about this wheel situation and a few other things, they seem to find it easier to ignore everything i ask, wonder why !!, The trouble is no information is being passed on from the top to the bottom, that is what it seems anyway, you just cant get a possitve answer dew to the lack of info being passed on down to the dealerships.
I know how you feel when you said about the car coming from storage, this same thing happened when i bought a Seat Leon the beginning of last year, i thought i was getting a brand new one but infact it had been in storage even had rust on it ! plus went wrong from day one, infact after 4 months it was getting so bad, like the attitude of the dealership thats when i said enough is enough so i part exchanged it for my Bravo.

Picked up my Bravo M-Jet Sport at the weekend. It was a factory order, so freshly built and it does have a spacesaver...

Just to tidy up loose ends (if anyone is interested) I have been given a space saver spare wheel after complaining to Fiat. I picked up my new Bravo Dynamic on 1st March 2008 and according to the brochure it should have had a spare wheel.

It took lots of phone calls to sort out, but thank you Fiat for listening and sorting it out. The dealer removed the foam packing from the boot, took the Fix & Go kit away, and threw in a space saver into the big wheel-shaped hole in the boot. Job done.

One happy cutomer then?? Almost!!
Just to confirm, pick up my 150 mjet sport last week and it does has a space saver!!! (y)

Yes it did. Also, after the increase, the Bravo got it's 5yr warranty. I'd be far more concerned about that than the spare wheel, again following on bluebravo's line, I hope they offer us discounted extended warranties at the end of year 3.
Not sure if you`ll get a discounted warranty mate.. bought mine end of march 08, with the 5 year warranty that still isn`t clear to `ANYBODY`, its all a bit of a mess really, just got my letter of fiat stating 3 years, so wheres my 5 years, Its advertised as 5 years !! :bang:

LOL had my letter from fiat 2 days ago stating the same thing, after getting no where with the dealer on the phone i went down tonight, lets just say if it dont get sorted in the next 48 hours i will be leaving the car at the dealer and not paying for it!! i love the car but hate dealers  and its not just fiat citroen, jaguar they are all the same:(

edit:

this may sound a little ott but the MAIN reason i purchased the car was because of the warranty, so i'm not a happy bunny

Ive just been spending a bit of time at 2 dealers deciding on which Bravo to get, so all i will say about the 5 year warranty is that you HAVE to pay full price and take Fiat finance to get it.

If you pay a lesser price on the same car with finance from the dealer, you WON'T get your full 5 years warranty.

As it is I'm due to get a 150 t-jet Sport tomorrow! :)
