First things first , I have owned a Brava 1.6 16v for about 3 months now and so far all had been fine.

now the problem is always at around 2000-3000 RPM i will continue to accelerate and the power will just drop as if i`m not touching the pedal/struggling.after the 3000rpm theirs is no problem whatsoever and its smooth as it was at the start, I have been driving like a fuel guzzling fool for the past week to try and stop the judder/lack of power.

now my mate who is kinda mechanically minded has surgested the HT Leads, could it be these or something else ?? don`t wanna start throwing money at the car before i can confirm 60% that it is that part ,
please help:

the first things to try are the servicables, plugs, leads, fuel filter, air filter. you'd be surprised how often a flat spot is due to simple things like this.

Have you tried unplugging the MAF sensor? It will reset to factory standards. There are loads of posts that will tell you how to test and replace if need be.

this may sound stupid but i had flat spots al low revs too but then i switched from tesco petrol to murco fuel of the same octane and the flat spots disappeared, mileage increased by 40 miles to tank and consequently from 24 MPG to around 28 MPG. My car also feels torquier (brava 1.4sx) , makes me wonder what tesco dilute their petrol with.....

Yup tesco fuel works fine, all this bull about it. Like everything else in the stores if they dont meet the rules etc they'd be in big trouble so cant afford to 'dilute' petrol, perhaps you mean with bioethanol which is now a fairly standard practice.

no sorry that "dilute the fuel" was a sarcastic comment. Obviously i appreciate there are standards that all fuels have to meet and that tesco fuel will be included in that, i was just trying to state that i noticed a difference that seemed quite significant to me and that perhaps the different fuel cleaned the engine out slightly. All i do is the school run drive there and home everyday so the test between the two fuels was fair and my driving style was the same. anyway i dont want to go off topic! sorry!
