i changed the head on my 20v and oil is not getting to the head , there was old oil in sump but the new clean oil was on dip stick so i took engine back out and sump off and all seems fine oil chain turning and bottom end all ok so head back on engine in car but same again the oil is not going to the head and it is still tapping pleeeeez can you :cry: help:cry: spyke

hmmm.. if i remember there was a topic a while back about oil not circulating through the head properly... maybe if you look back a few weeks you will find it ;)

i believe the solved it by using an airline to blow out any iron buildups.
 
how do you know oil is not circulating? a tapping noise would suggest a dry tappet, but it can take some time (10 mile trip) for all the tappets to get sufficient oil to become quiet.
 
the oil was dribbling out oil filter but oil pump is turning can a gasket be put on the wrong way so the oil hole would be blocked also the oil light is staying on

dribbling out the hole where the oil filter goes! it should spray out. we can assume the oil pump is not pumping much oil at all (or the pick up is blocked but i assume you would have inspected that already when sump was off)

sounds like you had to change the head because the oil pump is duff and it caused overheating. i'd change the oil pump.
