I do not have a red key with my bravo. All I have is one blue key that starts the car. Is it possible just to get a new red key from somewhere (fiat dealer maybe?) and then i'm sorted?
What would be the price for a new red key?

Any help/info would be great

Thanks

good luck...
refer to the KEYS QUESTION in the general bravo/brava section.

you can purchase a new red key from a Fiat Dealership...
bearing in mind it will cost you approx £500 and your car is worthless without it.

no you cant get a new red key. you would need to get a new ecu, codebox, and full set of keys, and if the dealer is nice they wont make you change the lockset as well. that would cost hundreds. dont bother.

the best thing for you to do is get your blue key copied at timpsons asap so you will have a working spare. a copy can be made for £25 or less.

hopefully you will never need the red key (very rarely do), but if you ever do, dont worry too much as there are several ways around it.

i was under the impression that you could only make a copy of the keys from the red one? I dont really know much about all this. Can i really just copy my blue key and the copy will work exactly the same as my other blue key?

yes you can definately copy the blue key. i've had copies made at timpsons more than once.

the red key only has 1 purpose. it is needed to programme keys into the immob.

if your blue key codes are lost by the ecu (very rare), then you need the red key to reprogram your existing keys into the immob so they will work again.
if you buy a brand new key, you need to use the red key to teach the immob the new code.

if you copy your key it will be a clone, so no programming is needed. as far as the immob is concerned the new key is exactly the same key as the original.

if you were to copy a red key, the new key would be a red clone. that would not be suitable for using to drive the car (but could be used for code programming same as original red key). only a copy of a blue key should be used for driving.

Cheers for clearing that up, I understand it abit better now. Can i go to any key cloning place or does it have to be "timpsons"?

Thanks again (y)

Just to clarify, if you really feel you need a new red key, they are not available from Fiat (other than full afore mentioned kit). I have made many replacement red keys which have always worked EXACTLY as the originals. You do not even have to open the immobiliser if you already have a blue key.

Interesting a recent development? (y)

he's been doing it for months now. have you not checked out his website? cant find the link atm. if i ever have probs with the code system reddy4bed is the first person i'll be on the phone to. (for a car thief he would also be a very useful guy to know)
