hi, I have a poorly brava 1.4,I have a starting problem when the engine is warm and have bought a crank sensor to hopefully cure the problem.I also have a haynes manual that says it is an easy fix,the trouble is that the manual looks a little vague and so do I when I am under the car looking for the sensor, can anybody direct me to the sensor and explain it as if they were talking to a ten year old ,then I might understand,at least then it will look as if I know what I am doing, many thanks:

this is the page from the fiat manual. it says you simply jack the car up, get underneath, disconnect the sensor's wiring connector, remove a single bolt, and then remove the sensor.

note you will need a feeler gauge to refiot the sensor correctly.

also you can do a quick test to see if the sensor is working, its resistace should be 774-946ohms. a multimeter will measure the resistance for you.

another suggestion....

if you are unsure how to do it, then go to a scrap yard and try it on theirs lol...

and as you are doing it take pictures for a tutorial ;) then it will make it easier for the next person to ask :)

Is it the same resistance range for the 1.6 crankshaft sensor?

no, on the 1.6 it should be 575 - 750 ohms.

there are 3 pins on the sensor, use pins 2 & 1 to test (oddly pins 2 & 1 are the outer pins, so dont test using the centre pin)
