Technical Airbag light and MOT?

lol, great way to sort it out...........however what bout if the warnin light is sumit important :p, if it dus however the MOT bloke shud tell u whats rong etc...

Ive been there, they said teh ACU needs to be replaced. But Im tempted to forget about it, as the car works fine anyhow.

I also have my red airbag light on. Ive been having nightmare problems with loss of power too and changed the MAF sensor and checked the AGR valve by blanking it off but still can't find the cause of loss of power. Could it be the ECU causing the airbag light here and also causing the loss of power?
Thanks,
Si

Hi guys,
If the airbag warning light on my Fiat Brava is on, will it fail its MOT?

Techincally yes it will fail the MOT.

Somebody suggested removing the bulb. This may not work as if I remember correctly from my Coupe the system will flash (at double rate) the passenger air bag light or possibly another light.

Regarding the MOT, emissions and braking systems asside, the car is tested as presented. So if you present your car with no ABS, not sun visor, no airbag system, and more crucially no system warnings about missing or malfunctioning devices then as long as the rest of the car passes all the other statutarory tests then it should pass the MOT.

Please note, I am NOT suggesting you decieve yourself and risk your own safety trying to work you way around the system. Let me give you an example. If I were due for an MOT but the sun visor keeps on falling down and I can't get a replacement by MOT time then I would remove the visor for the test. I would NOT however leave the car in this state. I would acquire and fit a new visor as soon as possible.

If a diesel then look at boost leaks.

Air Bag light will not fail mot it'd be an advisory, with the right cables and fiatecu scan software you can reset the air bag ecu which is located behind the ashtray in the centre console...

As for removing the bulb you can as its an LED soldered into place you can disable it with a 1.5cm strip of wire...

I know a HLX owner who's heater matrix sprung a leak and leaked fluid into the car all over the ecu and blew it up... unlikely that it is this..(n)

Most probably the Steering wheel has been removed without disconnecting the battery and removin the AIRBAG Fuse first......(y)

Loss of power, has your cambelt been done recently? is the MAF new and Bosch?
