hello all,

my rear wiper motor in my brava randomly ticks whenever it wants! its quite loud (not loud enough not to be drowned out by the radio) and its ticks about twice every second. i think it may be the relay in the motor but im unsure. it stops when i turn the windscreen wiper on too.

has anyone had a similar problem by any chance? if so, do i need a new rear wiper motor? ive seen them on ebay...

thanks in advance for any suggestions!:)

Well I had the same problem on my mk1 punto. If I turned the ignition on (not the engine) and had the inside light on, every time it clicked the light dimmed. A little while after this it completly died! So yeah I think you will need a new motor soon (n)

I just live with it, it only happens during winter for me, same as the random jumping temp guage. come summer it stops. Usually I just give a quick skoosh of the rear washer so it can wipe and then reseat back into position (without the water it just sits above parked position and tends to invite ticking)

grease the motor and wd40 the relay and wiring connector. that can put off failure for a while, although its inevitable and very common for the rear wiper motor to fail on bravo/as.

Yup thats what i did, when mines was going on the Punto, but by the time i stripped it off etc etc i would have been as well putting a new one on! As it only lasted another 2 months. And had to strip it down again and put a scraper one on. (y)

Yup sounds like a new motor soon, scrap yard is cheapest, Brava/o interchangable. Punto etc isnt.

Punto is...

Mk1 is same motor and main gear as bravo/a marea. The spindle is different.

I've got a punto one on my brava - works fine, motors were identical, only difference was the electrical connectors were different so I just bodged them together.
