Ok so fitting my Pollys tonight, now however didnt do the part about changing the levelers over from my old lights:

"2a. Connecting your headlight motors to your new Marea Headlights, this needs to be done correctly otherwise once they're on the car its difficult to do again.

2b. Above the main connector you'll see a small 10p size hole, with a white circular connector inside. Using pliers, pinch one of the spines and pull on it gently till it starts to rise and doesn't go any further, this makes the inner workings of the lights tilt up.

2c. You must prevent the white circular connector to move so the best option is to remove the covers for the bulbs and put your finger inside the area where you put the dipped light bulb in and wedge it in so that any pressure put on the white connector will not create the lights to tilt within the unit.

2d. This is where you'll need to attach the motor. The white prong sticking out of the motor needs to be placed into the white connector, it needs to be slid in from the top and then twisted on. Don't forget to put the spring back over the white prong sticking out off your headlight motor. To find out whether its connected properly gently try to push the internal workings of the light with your finger, if it moves its not connected, it needs to be firm."

Ok so didnt do all that, but do i need too? Lights are tilting up and down with the motor already on it.

I did instead, connect put up to 3 and down to 0, disconnect put up to 3, recconect put down to 0 then disscounect and put to 3 then recconect then down to 0.

But didnt seem to change during the sequence. But went up and down with the other and leveler works ok, just worried it might be pointing too low or something as i didnt follow the above. (as didnt have it with me at the time) Taking it out and following the advise isnt a problem, as only one fitted so far.

Advise needed urgent as doing the other one tomorrow.

Cheers

i didnt do any of that. i think that step is desinged for people who have bought brand new marea lights, which would not come with the level adjustment motors fitted. if you buy used marea lights the motors will be fitted already.

but i did have the same problem. the lights were dipped too low. its because the angle they are mounted on the marea is slightly different.

so i just loosened the mounting bolts and lifted the light up, then tightened the bolts up. there is a slightly larger gap under the light than there was with the original light, but you dont notice and it looks fine.

this is kind of related. (sorry if you dont think it is)

but my local scrappy has a fair few mareas with these poly lights, which i am planning to "aquire" but how many fixings do they have ? i can see the top two fittings ,but are there any others?

only the 2 bolts, and there is a ball joint at the side right next to the wing that you need to pop out to remove the light (i use a long metal bar for doing this). and make sure you take the sidelight bulb holder and a few inches of wire. you can sell them on ebay for a tidy profit. £100 for a pair is not uncommon, and scrapard prices you should expect to pay £30 for a pair, add seller fees and postage and you still double your money.

Cool i'll give that a go! Thanks Jug! (y)

Cool well i'd placed them with the bolts exactly where the old ones were, so went out and did as jug seggested and it certainly seemed to tilt the light up quite a bit. Now dark so i'll see how hight it is now, and adjust if needed.

So it was you 'dazzling' everyone on the A77 tonight:D

Nah not me, last night yea! Down the shore eating dinner at 10.30 with one Polly and one standard. Not cruzing but where else you gona eat your pizza and chips when they'd be cold by the time you got home! (y) Only got one fitted as had to get some stuff for the Volvo today and go to uni and was at the youth club i help run tonight. But will be finishing off tomorrow, i'll be able to align them roughly as have a mark on the wall and floor in my mates garage. Plus trust tool kit in the car at all times if the fuzz/public get annoyed.

Cool well all fitted now and they went back and up quite a bit compared to originals, nice bright light on the road and still clear for a good distance compared to old ones. Had philips vision plus in old ones too.

Well worth doing as long as you do it properly. Have taken pics at each stage to supliment JoskeJTD's and Svens Guides, so will make up something and post as additional info etc, or a pictorial guide. But big thanks to these guys for doing the guides as without them i wouldnt have done it. (y)

Made a few modifications too it and some wires were different colours on mine, so always check before you do it, and use your brain and eyes not what the book says.
