Got in to my car last night and the seat droped. and went back. Got home and had a look and the frame of the seat has broken.

To be honnest it's pissed me off a bit i am a bit of a fat git but the seat should be able to take more than 15 stone surely.

Went up to scrappy tonight I was gutted their was a Bravo Same colour as myn, SX model like myn, Same colour interior. Nothing has been took off it accept for the drivers seat which has gone.

Had the spray guards off it though, and on my way home it hit me I'm pretty sure it's got coded door miriors. So if it has and im not imagining things I'll have them off it the weekend.

No luck mate, sure one will turn up soon, i'd imagine that you could keep the seat and replace the frame. See if your old one come's off, and also see if your passenger seat fits as you could use it in the meantime.

at least its an SX so you've got a good chance of finding one the same colour in good condition, an HLX seat is far rarer, and if it was an HGT you'd be buggered.

Isn't it possible to have someone weld the broken frame?

welding is classed as "skill labour" in the uk, so that means it costs more than gold. which is a shame because welding is one of the few things i cant really do myself, and even though i know a few welders, they still charge plumbers rates.

when i lived in dubai you could drive around certain parts of the city and pick up labourers with their own tools, including welders, and pay them by the hour or day to do whatever you wanted at rates so cheap it would make me feel guilty. so different to the uk

The seat that is in the car is going to be bodged. I am going to get two strips of steel and strap it by riviting the steel to the frame. and it is going to become the X-Box chair.

I would not risk bodging it and using it in the car because it does not lock into place when I brake. I have to tense my arms and hold the wheel to stop me from sliding forward.

I have to strech my clutch foot that far my knee is hurting I can't wait until tomorrow. Got the old mans Octavia Estate:D and I'm going scrap yard hunting.

No luck with seat as of yet.

Next week Im going to my favourite breakers in birmingham Fiat base.

It's like a supermarket. they brak the cars up and put them on shlves. You then go round and oick what you want.

I wished I had gone yesterday but I could not be bothered with the M6, and I refuse to pay to use the M6 Toll. Especially when it's an £8 return trip to use it. Yes I am a tight git:D

Yeah I will do.

im going to build a a frame out of MDF not very high because i like to sit on the floor when I'm gaming. Im going to cover it with the carpet that you cover subs in. Going to put a holder for a can in.

I will let you know and post some pics when it's done.

i've got a driver seat from an SX that won't recline £15? 07926 576 123 Dan

Sorry, what i meant was it does recline but you cant pull it forward to get in the back, other than that its ok.

The subframe broke on my Marea, got one from a Brava with different cloth and rebuilt the old upholstery onto the new frame: it is not difficult, took about two hours and that includes transferring the lumbar adjustment over, it will be even easier if you don't have that to do. There are a few sharp edges that you need to beware of when getting the various springs and cords off from the innards of the backrest: wear gardening gloves or risk taking the top off a finger like I did.
