Hello my fellow trouble-asking-loving fiat owners :D

I was just wondering if the handbrake light (!) can mean anything other than the handbrake is on?

When i operate the kick down feature of my 1.6 SX Automatic Brava, the handbrake light flicks on and off once, it literally goes on and off so fast i could not see what light it was, so i done kick down and then remembered where it was, and it turns out to be the handbrake light :S

The car is mechanically sound so i dont know what is wrong

You middle brake light must be off ;)

It think i've read that at fiatforum, some time ago :)

yep check the brake fluid level, and be happy you have an auto because it cant mean the usual slave cylinder leak. lucky :D

keep an eye on the brake fluid level, you may have a leak somewhere.

Using this picture of my engine, anyone wanna tell me how to check brake fluid level or where to look? :p

I am so dense..

i get a feeling that one may be the power steering fluid reservoir because the lid has no sensor wires on it.

i guess the auto's have the brake fluid reservoir in a different place.

i'll have to check my manuals

Trace a straight line from the centre of your steering wheel to the inner edge of your light cluster. Against the bulkhead on this line should be the brake master cylinder. Either it will have the reservoir built onto the top of the master cylinder, or will have pipes coming out the cylinder which you can trace back to a reservoir.

you're right hellcat, its on the master cylinder.

this pic shows what you need to look for.

it will be just in front of the brake pedal if you look in the engine bay, i think it'll be lower down than you'd expect
