Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

Does anyone tell me if my Brava 1.9 JTD (1999) has
a standard 16 pin OnBoardDiagnostic Socket?
I was looking for it under Steering Weel, driver side
fusebox, front passenger side dashboard...
but not found. Under the steering weel, upside the
bonnet release, there's a little black box signed
"bosch". I can't open it (and i suppose it's the
Fiat CODE box).

I've found something similar near the JTD engine
(dashboard right side) attached to the fuse box;
it's a 3 pin connector, the FiatTester I suppose.

I've bought a commercial OBD reader for LaptopPC,
but I'can plug it into my car

Please, help!
Thank you in advance.

On my Fiat Bravo JTD100 its under the steering wheel near the sound proofing. It has a plastic cap cover over it. Flick it off and it should be there.

The JTD105 should be the same as my JTD100. If its definately not there, try the engine bay near the fuse box near the battery.

Re: Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

I've just looked around steering wheel as you said. Near the sound proofing, i've the incar fuse box how you can see in this shoot:

Under the steering wheel, near the driver port I can only see the fuel inertial switch, as you can see there:

Exactly under the steering wheel, near the bonnet release, I can only see
these:

and

as you can see above, there's a little plastic box marked "bosch":
I suppose that is the FiatCODE for KeyCODE security check.

Well, at the end, I found the FiatTEST socket into the engine bay,
a 3 pole connector attached to the fuse box covered with a black
plastic cap, here is in red:

Can you show me, using these photos, where is the OBD 16 pin
connector you have on the great Bravo JTD?

Thank you again for your nice support.

Re: Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

you can attach the 16pin connector to the 3 pin connector, there are adapters you can buy to do it, but in the past i've just used a few lengths of wire to do it. can't remember which pins on the 16pin connector to use, but i'll find out.

Re: Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

CicoJTD i assume your car isn't UK spec as your drivers side fuse box is on the wrong side. However i've managed to take some pics of my ODB port. Obviously the third pic will need to be flipped horizontally for a Left Hand Drive car.

Hope this helps

Re: Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

Thank you so much JoskeJTD, you're a great man! :-)

You're right, Italian version of Bravo/a JTD is left hand
driving. I didn't see any felt cutting under my driver
fuse box, tomorrow morning I'll try to have a better
looking: the dark out there doesn't let me check.
Anyway, I'll open an "hole" using a cutter, and...
we will see! :-D

Dont bother cutting the felt, press the middle of those round plastic lugs and just remove the felt.

Re: Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

I'm deprived of hope... :-( I've removed the felt as you said, simply and quickly, but behind there's nothing! I'll post as soon as possible some pics to show the problem I'm dealing with.

Thank you, again JoskeJTD.

Ok i've been told that the ODB port can be found in the engine bay on the JTD105, Back left, its clipped ontop of a hose.

Re: Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

Oh well, thank you guys... I suppose I'll never plug my 16 pin OBD connector on that 3 pole socket, without any converter/adapter. I'm wrong?

Re: Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

OBD Connector Pinout:
Pin 4 - Chassis Ground
Pin 5 - Signal Ground
Pin 7 - K Line
Pin 16 - Battery Power (+12v)

pins 4, 5, 7, will be directly connected to the 3 pin connector on the car using some wire. the interface will need a +12v, normally supplied by the OBD connector, but it's not there on the 3 pin connector so you need to run a seperate cable from your 16 pin connector (pin16) to the battery positive terminal.

Re: Brava JTD105 OBD Socket

Well, I verified... Brava 1.9 JTD105 has not a standard 16pin OBD socket; it has 3 diagnostic sockets inside the engine bay:

1) As showed by JoskeJTD, here is the "injection diagnostic socket"

2) Here is instead the "A.B.S. diagnostic socket"

3) Near the connector shown above, it should be another similar socket
for "TheftAlarm diagnostic socket" (is not present on my car).

It's not all. Inside the car there are other sockets like those, at least one for the "Airbag diagnosis" an Clima (both next to the frontside smoking box).

I have to identify the 3 pole socket's pins in order to connect it to the OBD diagnosis plug. Just waiting for a convertion schematic

Thank you guys.
