Was at the scrappies today (getting a roof mounted aerial) when I noticed the Brava I was plundering has good handles.

Two questions:

1. My car is a MK1 S reg, the potential donor is MKII, I presume they are compatible? Both cars have the rubberised type that perish; the V reg donor handles are perfect though.

2. The sprung flap that is pushed aside by the key, that protects the lock barrel from road salt etc. is missing from my drivers door lock. Is this part of the barrel lock or can I replace it separately at the same time as the handles?

The scrappies wants £20 for the four handles; I can't make my mind up if I can be bothered doing ot for cosmetic reasons though. But if I can fix the lock protecting flap at the same time, that would be a bonus. Having to replace the locks would effectively write the car off!

Thanks for your help.

yes the handles will fit no problem.

but the metal flap is part of the lock barrel. however it is very rare that the flap actually breaks, 99% of the time its just stuck open, and a quick squirt of wd40 gets it back in position.

Cheers Jug, lock has been WD40'd the last few winters to keep the mechanism working. Had a wee poke about with a jewellers screwdriver and WD40 on the back of your post, but no luck.

Cheers Sammiboo, but it's a 1.4S thats getting on in miles, I can't be bothered finding Marea handles and then needing to change the colour.
