hey i am considering getting a bravo:D but want it reamapped but dont want a diesel i hate them with a passion(n) and the 1.2 is puny:idea: was looking at least 1.6 but preferrably the 1.8 hlx, iv found a nice one its 1999 on the T. was wondering if anyone could help with finding someone who can remap it?:worship:
also any other ways of adding power to it without drastic spending like turbos etc. cant even seem to find cams anywhere for it!:bang:

What can you do, heres a quick lesson in performance tuning.

Turbo cars can get considerable increases in horsepower for the £. (y)

N/A cars can not. (n)

So spend a fortune to see any real increase, or spend a considerable % of the cars value to see a tiny gain, I know what I would do...

buy a JTD. :slayer:

Welcome to the forum. :)

Hi :)

the 1.6 and 1.8 were thought to be unmappable (no eprom on ecu), however i've recently found out that the mk1s can be rechipped (open ecu and solder a new chip on the pcb) and the mk2s can actually be remapped (someone on this forum claim he can).

the gains are puny and the price is high so i wouldnt advise it.

as always, there's not really much point remapping a N/A car. the only people who'll tell you there is are people who sell remaps or people who've they've convinced. getting big gains out of a N/A is throwing good money away, just buy a faster car. you can pick up an HGT for the same price as an HLX, the money you'd waste on modding an HLX can go towards the extra insurance it'll cost for the HGT.

a remapped JTD is a worthwhile venture. and if you hate diesels you obviously havent tried racing a remapped JTD lately. they're faster than my car on the open road and still return much better mpg. i'd swap my 1.8-HLX for a JTD-HLX any day.

yer his name oldschool init? i been tryin to contact him but no joy like.
