Now I know these are supposed to be exactly the same engine and the car is the same apart from the air-con in the 115 and a few other little things but when I look in the Bravo Owner HandBook I see in the performance section at the back that there are two different 1.8 engines. One with the body code my 1.8 HLX has and then this body code 182ACIBA.
Are these two engines the HLX and the 115 or are they both mk1 but one of them the british HLX and the other the european GT?
Either way I believe that one of them has a closer ratio gearbox as here are the performance figures for each gear in kmph...
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Reverse
1.8 16V 50 87 128 169 193 50
1.8 16V (182ACIBA) 55 95 140 185 190 55
So can anyone tell me which engine is best to go for and why? Surely the top 1.8 is faster 0-60 as is has closer ratio gearing and a better top end! Or is it the bottom one because it can hit 60 in 2nd gear? (well...59.375mph!)
