Hopefully someone can help me my girlfriend has a Fiat Brava 1.6SX 16v automatic on a P reg. Nice car but has a problem with the automatic gearbox. When driving at high speed it will not change to top gear. For example on the motorway the other day and it would not change up after about 50mph in the end the car was accelerating but would not change to 4th, the revs were high and the petrol gauge was moving quicker than the Speedo. It sometimes very rarely changes up so I know there is a 4th gear. Personally think it could be an electronics problem but not sure, can anyone shed some light on this for me, Thanks

While at "D" position, have you tested the all the function selection of the 3 modes ie...Norm, Sport & ICE.... If the mode is at "Sport" position, the 4th gear is not engaged.

The Ice light on the dash doesn't work but the others do. I have even tried while the gear is not engaging to turn on and turn off the sports mode. but it makes no difference. Thanks for trying tho any other ideas?

I have found the problem thanks, it was the thermostat. Had it fitted yesterday and it now starts better, the fan heaters heat up quicker and most importantly it changes up to top gear, oh and the ice mode works.
