Hi

I have a problem with my alarm system via the key fobs on Fiat Bravo 1.6 16v.

Pressing the key fob failed to open the car. I opened the door with the key and the alarm sounded and turning the ignition and even starting the car did not stop it. I closed the door and relocked the door with the key, the alarm stopped itself after a few moments.

Obviously i can't drive the car with the alarm sounding. I have changed the batteries in the key fobs, but still nothing, it seems to not be 'linking' with the central locking system!

Is there any service which could sort such a problem on my driveway rather than trip to the garage?? Please help!

sometimes when the keyfob battery goes flat the alarm 'forgets' the keyfob. your alarm can have up to 8 keys programmed into it. you need to try programming your key back into the alarm.

before attempting this make sure the alarm is turned on at the master switch (with little key in fusebox, yours is like this already) and off with the remote (you cant do this yet so try disconnecting battery for half hour). Key should not be in the ignition and all doors need to be closed.

you program the alarm using the button on the courtesy light.

push the small button with a pen and the LED beside it should start to flash. keep the button pressed while you push the button on the key. If the light stops flashing and stays constantly on you have programmed the key into the alarm.

sometimes it takes a few attempts. if ydisconnecting your battery for half an hour doesnt turn the alarm off then you are a bit stuck. out of curiosity, i guess you dont have the second remote key, or if you have it, it no longer works as well?
