Technical Fiat/Lancia Diagnostic tool.

So you say that this interface is compatible with some programms and only needs to short together the K and L line. My brava 1999 80 16V uses only the K-line and i tried the Uniscan Visa 1.83 Interface and reads and erase faults also, but it works only in DOS and uses two com ports, so you must have an old PC to use it. I attach a picture for what interface i am talking about. If anyone wants any further info for that interface feel free to ask me.

Well yes, but there is dumb interfaces, which just do the level shifting and all the intelligence is in the PC, or there is intelligent interface such as elm etc, which have some preset routines in them and follow commands from the PC.

DOS !! Its 2008 m8.. how is anyone ever going to run that with XP or Vista !?!

I have a problem with my ABS and want to get the error code off the ABS unit so I can find out whats going wrong. I have a 1999 Barchetta with the 3pin and a reader but no software that can pick up the codes. Does anyone have any software that works on PCs after 1970 ? I have tried ScanTool.net and things like that with no joy.

you can run dos within xp and vista, start/run/command prompt.

i think uniscan works, but it depends on your ecu. i believe the B has the same ecu as the mk2 punto HGT, so uniscan should work. you can get cracked versions via torrent or ebay.

I have what seems to be the Alfa/Fiat/Lancia Examiner program. I have two versions....

Version 5.5 (Seem to work without a code)

Version 7.0 (Requires a dealer code for it to work)

Unfortunately i dunno how to use it and when i tried, it ended up altering my files on my computer, naming my PC to examiner etc. V5.5 is 90MB and V7.0 is 185MB.

JoskeJTD you have the software but you need the interface to make the comunication between the car and the pc.
Docorangepeel yes it works only in DOS but i have a very old laptop for this only job which has two com ports and it works fine. Jug the Uniscan dont work under command prompt, needs a pure DOS version to work, what can i say!!!!

What you need is something to allow access to i/o devices, this is very good and free:-

Beyond Logic Port Talk I/O Port Driver
http://www.beyondlogic.org

You just load it in and run DOS as normal, probably best allow all i/o acesses to cover com port parallel port and timer.

Think that model uses different 3 pin plugs for each unit, ie ABS, engine ECU, airbag. Probably best to check at the dealers.
