I have a 2000 Bravo Trofeo 1.2 16v with 92,000 miles on the clock.
Some time ago I noticed thick black fluid all over the inside of the passenger side arch. Now, very recently, the suspension on that side has started to knock whenever I go over a hump or pot hole.
Any ideas what my problem is and how much it will cost to fix?
Thanks

Sounds like a leaking shock absorber, but to be sure you can take a look under the car and double check that's where the fluid's coming from. Not sure how much standard Bravo kit is but not too bad for a pair of standard front shocks I wouldn't think. Depending on what tools/ strength/ patience you have, you can change it over yourself or ask a garage to do so. Or if you fancy the idea of better handling, you could use this opportunity to change all the shocks and springs out for an upgraded kit (this was what spurred me on to get mine changed) - this can cost more though (£279 for me all round).

Your strut has popped it's seals. You need to replace it, preferable both front struts as they should be matched pairs.

Try www.shop4parts.co.uk or Andrew page.

A pair will be about £86 plus VAT

i would check your cv boot just to make sure that isnt where the mess came from. if it is the shock you can usually get them at your local motor factors cheap. cost me less than £30 each at my local for uprated gas shocks, standard hydraulic shocks were only a couple of quid cheaper so why bother
