Hi,
I have a Brava 1.6

My front wiper motor makes a hell of a noise when I switch the thing on, so I reakon it's a bit broke !!

Anybody know where the front wiper motor is ? Is it embedded in the dash ? or the engine bay ? I can't seem to locate it funnily enough :(

Next question. Does anybody have the appropriate "replace front wiper motor" section from the haynes manual they could scan in and send me ? pretty please, with suger on top. :) or if they know of a website that shows some nice colour pictures that will do as well, just post the link.

thanks in advance.

brian.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.:D
The motor is in the engine compartment behind the trim panel.

To remove:
Dis batt neg.
Remove wiper arms.
Remove the trim, about 9 screws.
Unplug motor.
The motor assembly is secured with 3 screws, 1 at each end and 1 in the middle.
It sounds like the gear has gone in your motor. This can be checked and removed if necessary by unscrewing the gearbox cover.

Good luck and let us know how you get on. :D

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies and sorry I just got around to fixing the thing !

The linkage was OK.

The horrible grinding noise was either from the motor itself, or the gearbox it was attached too. I couldn't open the gearbox housing completely cos' the pin just refused to come loose from the bottom ! but the plastic top came off and it looked OK. The funny thing was that it worked perfectly except for the grinding noise.

In the end I went down to the nearest scrap yard and got another for £25. It's lovely and quiet now !!
