I bought a handsfree set for Christmas (Pama car kit for Nokia 3410)assuming it would be easy to install. The only thing I can't figure out is how and where to connect the 'fused power cable' which consists of 2 cables (one red and one black). The instructions say "Ensure the red cable is cnnected to an ignition live power source, NOT directly to the battery". I did assume, wrongly, that I'd be able to plug the power cable directly into the lighter socket!

Any help would be appreciated.

ignition live is any circuit that only becomes live when the ignition is live(when you turn the key till the battery, oil light is on).you can wire it at the ignition switch or any other circuit eg leccy windows, fan etc and the black cable(check instructions!!!) will be an earth so you can either connect to an existing earth wire on the cars wiring or drill a hole and earth it to the bodywork with a ring connector on the wire and a screw to the bodywork.any qu's just ask;)

I soldered mine to the radio wires. You will have an ignition live there. :D
