trying to add a cone filter but not sure how far back to go with it along by noise box....is this needed as i could take out all together if not required. otherwise i could do with some pics to get an idea how to mod...
also i need to add intake thingy where can i ount it..

opps sorry brava 1.6hsx a universal filter it at mo fitted temp has improved things a lot but wanna move it.

the filter medium isn't very good and lets through dust and grit which gets into your engine and kills it.

Easiest suggestion is just use a normal paper filter in the original air box.

If you want to do it properly you need to be spending over £100 on K&N and Samco hosing to direct it away from heat or a GSR carbon dynamic induction kit.

Air filtration just isn't something you can scrape corners on. For the sake of £100 for a decent filter you can be looking at hundreds of pounds of engine damage.

Unless you are getting a Cone specifically designed for your vehicle and you add all the proper heat reduction materials I would recommened a Replacement "Performance" Panel Filter like a K&N.

They have in some cases confused the ECU enough to stop the vehilce from starting as it messes up the Air Fuel mixture which can lead to high fuel consumption.

On a hot day after a drive, open your bonnet and feel your airbox, you'll notice that its very hot. Fortunatly the Air inside the box should not be as hot.

With a Cone filter all that hot air will go into the combustion chambers. The combustion chambers prefere cold air as this is what provides the "extra" power.

Further more some cone filters will lose you power in a certain Rev Range, In my case I believed that range to be above 5000, some cases is loses power in the low range but increases in the high range.

do i have to keep the noise box or what is it for then and can i add a breather filter ?????????/:D

If you add a breather you have to remove one internal exhaust gas return hose I think and point it away from the car. I is told this was illegal  not that it would stop most :D

vrooooooooooooooooooooooom power to the brava oh well only anothr 11 months to mot:yum: (y)

Just a bit worried here that you're changing things and to be fair don't understand the significance of what you're doing.

I'm all for people exploring the posibilities of their car but when you start using cheap parts its only a matter of time before you will be posting a thread titled 'My Brava isn't working anymore' :(

ok i will be careful have just taken out aold air filter and put cone in its place by wheel arch if you understand just need to add more hosing to make it work properly...

Tis ture Steve, In reallity all performance modifications should be followed by an ECU remap unless it can learn properly on its own. Even though some ECU's can learn they are sometimes limited by manufactures to stop your car from driving too fast and to stop from too much emmisons. this may prevent the ECU being able to adjust itself to properly compensate for some mods.

Just make sure its not in a position which will allow water will get into it when it rains.
If this is the case then you will be posting, "My motor wont start first time anymore" type threads.
