Hello all,i have discovered a strage problem with my brake light on the dash.The one that says you have a bulb out.When you first drive the car it never comes on but after about 30-50 mins every time i brake the little amber stop light comes on when i brake,but all the bulbs are fine.If i switch off the engine and re-start it goes off.Anyone have a similar or heared of a similar problem.i spoke to someone from a fiat garage and he said"welcome to the world of italian cars!"lol.

er yes thats about it.i dont take alot of notice of any of the lights
on me bravo,as long as everthing works ok.think now id panic more if i had no lights up.

Its been a while but now the light is on all the time,also the brakes are screeching really bad but only when i slow right down.Checked the pads and discs all ok,cleaned all the brakes and changed the fluid,still the same.Is the STOP light just for light or is it for all braking probs??the brakes seem ok(apart from the noise)sometimes its embarrasing,pulled up at the lights the other day and some old dear nearly had a heart attack from the screech of em,lol.
Any help or advice on this one?do fiat have a machine they plug in to diagnose it?cheers for any help.Anthem

sounds like your rear brake shoes need changing

Nope its deffo not the shoes,it has discs all round and the back ones are about 6 months old(discs and pads).Someone mentioned that the person who put the new front pads on fitted cheap ones,would this cause the squeak or squeal?Still doesn't explain the light.Cheers anyways.Anthem

Check you brake/clutch fluid level, you might hav a pipe weeping.

Already changed all the fluid and checked for leaks to no avail.Thanks for the help i've just booked it into the fiat garage just to be safe,after all it is the brakes.147hp and brake failure just aint worth risking.I'll let you know how i get on,again cheers for all the help Anthem

could be the wire connection to the brake indicators earthing somewhere

You won't believe this but i took it to the fiat garage and met the most helpful mechanic on the planet.Before i paid the scandalous 40 quid per hour he got in the car put his head under the dash and fiddled with the wires undernerath the brake pedal,Hey presto light went out!!Drove it all day and its yet to come back on,he reckons the wire wasn't in properly.As for the squeak he said someones put cheap pads on old discs only cure is to get new pads.Still thats probably cheaper than leaving it in the garage for 3 days and paying a fortune for someone to reconnect the wire.Again thanks all for help and advice,i'm sure summat else will go wrong soon.Easy cure is just to got and let that 20v roar makes it all better.Cheers anthem
