fiat brava 1.4 97' when at its working temp, the car will rev up to 4'000 revs on its own and often cut out after and will take some time to get it started again, the single point fuel injection system has been replace but the problem is still on the car..Help

Had a problem with my Brava 100SX reving for no reason now and again although this was also accompanied by a problem with the car running very sluggish.

Established that the knock sensor was faulty. had it replaced at a Fiat dealer and works fine now.

Had the same problem, and in my case, it (4000 RPM on idle) was accompanied with code key yellow signalization lamp on the board (lights continuously). Problem solved with new battery. If you had experienced similar problems with your battery (check it with the multimeter, voltage must be over 13.5V), than it must be it (or I hope so)!

its back on the road, the fiat garage found a fault with the choke sending unit and a fault with a senser unit of the ECU.
thanks for your help.rob
