Does anyone know if I can just add a front fog lamp switch to the cluster on the dasboard, or do I have to replace the whole unit ??

Neither You can replace the dash panel with one with fogs but the connector doesn't fit. So you can either add your own wiring or mutilate what is already there to make it work

Yeah you can buy the switch panel with the foglight button. There are was a change in switches, not sure if its a MK1 or MK2 thing. The guy above doesn't know what he's saying. If the switch you have doesn't fit then buy the other one. Simple as.

However its much cheaper to goto the scrap yard as the switches cost £69 - £115.

Apologies if I was wrong, just going off my own experience which was that an ELX dash panel didn't fit at the back. I have no idea if it was phase 1 or 2 though as it was bought by itself. So a phase2 elx/ hlx panel should fit straight into an 80sx at the connection point, whereas the phase 1 panel won't? Was that your experience?

I have a blank plate on the left hand side of the switches, so I assume that a switch will fit, but do not know if all the relevant wiring is in place.

Try it and see, await the experiences of others or wait a couple of weeks until I get to a scrappy and attempt mine again.
