Technical tappet noise

hi.
i have a x reg 1.2 brava which has done 42000 miles.
after standing overnight in cold temperatures when first started next day.
i have a bit of tappet noise for aprox 1 minute until engine warms up slightly.
is this normal.

Hi, I own a 1.2 Punto which has similar problems. When I spoke to Fiat about this they assured me that this is normal in Fiat engines due to manufacturing tolerances of the tappets, and is not a problem!. I tend to switch the engine off-then back on which seems to stop that annoying rattle!

its a fiat if it dont tap its broke

aint the tappet noise to do with the oil, hydraulic tappets or something i remember reading

maybe a quick check of oil and top up might be required, mine tap on my '04 punto

they will because all the oil drains to the bottom at night,

thanks for all your quick replys.
i changed oil and filter on friday so i no thats not the problem.
in the past i have always had vauxhalls and they did not have this noise.
decided this year to change to different make of car.
looked around and found this immaculate brava i owner low milage,wife loves the colour and you get a lot of car for your money and its a great car to drive.

u mena you had a vauxhall that didnt tap.... aint that like having an old cvh escort of fiesta that dont tap! i thought even brand spanking vauxhalls come out of the garage with the renound "tap" mine has started with a lil tapping noise but i wouldnt really worry about it... only fix it when its broke! thats my motto. prolly not the best motto to have but hey ho
