Brava 1.2 obd location and alternator lead question

Hi All,

My 2001 1.2 Brava (Not Bravo) has an orange engine light on (But drives fine),
so I wanted to get a OBD2 checker for it. I expected to find a yellow 3 pin
socket by the fuse cover but there's nothing there. Where might it be?

Also, while digging about I noticed a two pin connector loose next to the
alternator. My guess would be that it was removed on purpose, any idea why that might have been done?
What does it do?

One more while I think about it, the passenger door latch split pin has broken, do I need to take the interior panel off to fit a new one?

Many thanks for any help.
Steve

Re: Brava 1.2 obd location and alternator lead question

Thanks for the reply Charlie.
I'd actually found that link googling previously but there's nothing there in my car.

Here's two pictures of the nothing there!

I've also added a pic of the alternator lead, if anyone knows what it does
or why it might have been unplugged I'd appreciate it.
The Haynes manual I bought for the car hasn't helped in the slightest on
any question I've had so far... Maybe it's me.

Thanks
Steve

If the switch is on your power steering pump it detects increased pressure in hoses when steering loaded. When switched on it increases idle speed slightly to stop stalling when manovering at slow speeds. Maybe switch stuck on and so disconnected. Don't worry about it .

Please post another pic of your engine bay with wider angle

Re: Brava 1.2 obd location and alternator lead question

I like the picture of nothing there (-:

But the link shows the area slightly left of centre of bulkhead and slightly higher up.
The second two photos in the link should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise.
Ignor ref to air intake-that's a mistranslation.
Please may I have another pic of nothing there too (:

Yes, it might be the power steering pump. Sorry, I'm no mechanic!

Here's some other pics.

I can see your obd connector from here(-:

Well I can see the obd storage clip/cap can't see if actual plug and wire is attached or if it has dropped down.

Hi again

Im intrigued by the 2pics showing the fluid reservoir..

Alternator..pas.. seem to be near RH Headlamp

Your OBD PORT should be above the pedals in drivers footwell..

However.. we do have others on here periodically who are adamant their 2001 PETROLS are not OBD2..

Mine was a Diesel.. and a VERY well concealed plug ( and cap..)
Thanks jackwhoo thanked for this post

I was thinking it should be obd2 also .
Maybe poster didn't look for multipin obd connector above feet?

Anyway storage clip/cap for previous generation connector is on side of fuse box in engine bay , passenger side near bulkhead not far from the gaffer taped air hose(-:

Can't see from photo if it has a wire stored in it, so maybe it has dropped out and now hanging down somewhere or maybe it is obd2 above feet in cabin.

If this is the fuse cover you refer to in your first post I apologise, there are fuses inside the car and that is what I thought you referred to.

Sometimes the obd connector is near the interior fuses.

Re: Brava 1.2 obd location and alternator lead question

Thanks to all for replies.
I can't see anything near/dropped by fuse box in engine bay.
I'll have a look above the pedals, I did see a bravo youtube video saying a panel needed
removing...
