Technical washer jets

When i had to clean out my jets i used fuse wire. Just make sure you don't try to force anything to large in the hole, it'll bugger it up.

Thanks Stark (y)

Right so I've been working on them (and a few other little niggles that I've spotted along the way)

I've got the bonnet washer jets, nozzles (that connect to the hoses) and the rear washer jet all soaking in a cup of hot water with a little bit of salt and vinegar (just for flavour :p).

As for the headlight washers, how do I gain access to the hoses at the back? Is it front bumper off time?

Also I noticed that the hose coming out of the washer tank was kinked a bit just before what looks like the non-return valve, is this normal or has the hose been shifted around and got kinked at some point?

OK So cleaning the washer jets/nozzles didnt do the trick :(

After closer inspection it looks as if the water level in the washer tank hasnt actually dropped since I filled it up earlier in the week (a bit odd considering I've spent a fair bit of time testing the washers) so I think I am going to take the plunge and remove the washer tank/motor, check it all over and clean it out.

Has anyone got any advice for me on this? or can think of any other possible answers to this problem?

Cheers guys (y)

save yourself some time, try pulling the hose off at the washer motor, see if it spills out (it should) and then check if it squirts out when motor is switched on. also try blowing through the hose. this way you can see if the problem is with pump or hose without removing anything.

im now having a similar problem with mine!!! the front washers are now working but the back one just wont squirt any water out at all!! tried a pin prick on it but with no luck....kind of worrying is seeing some water drip out from underneath the car towards the back (not directly under the back windscreen wiper)....could this be connected?

it is VERY common for the water pipe to pop off right at the end where it fixed to the back of the washer jet. glue it back in place and it should stay there. and dont use the rear wash until its fixed, or else the water can damage the electrics in the tailgate, and it causes mould, especially in winter when it takes weeks to dry out.

Cheers for the advice Jug (y) I must have known thats what you was going to say because that's what I ended up doing lol.

Front washers arent working due to a non working non-return valve lacated just before the driver's side washer jet.

Rear one I think is due to a similar problem. I believe the valve for the rear pipe is under the scuttle panel, is that right?

I'm going to take a look for it now and hopefully get it all sorted today.

After a few hours of trying to work in tight spaces, lots of swearing and a few cuts and bruises its all sorted :D

Non-return valve for the front washers repaced with a simple t-piece (couldnt get hold of a Y-shape non-return valve)

Non-return valve for the rear washer replaced with another non-return valve.
