Hello,

I own a brava 100/16v '00

I want to change the shock absorbers .

I want the new ones to be as possible the same with the original.
I don't like the hard ones.

but i don't know which one is the right for my car

Can you help me ?

Maybe I did not write exactly what help I am asking.

So far at 147,000 km I have changed the original shock absorbers at 45,000 km, I put the black KYB which were a bit harder than the original ones at the beginning but towards the end of their life they were scarcely overcrowded.
Before 5000 km I placed the black Bilstein but these are more harder than KYB and I want to replace them as soon as possible.

Because I do not like performance and hard shock absorbers I want to install the original shock absorbers so that the car is within the factory specifications.

At the moment I can not find the real ones in my country.
I found some spare part codes here fiat.7zap

Because Fiat does not produce shock absorbers, it is surely supplied by a company, what is this company name do you know;

If I can not find the genuine shock absorbers, at least i want some that come close to the original quality and road behavior.

I have a Brava 1.2, I changed the shocks twice.

The first time I fitted KYB Excel, they felt quite firm from the start and after I few years I realised they had become very harsh and uncomfortable so I decided to change them again and also fit new correct springs.

The shocks I chose were Gabriel, old stock from Ebay. I am very happy with the ride now.

The best mainstream alternative I can suggest is Sachs or Boge (same company I believe).

Be sure you get the shocks for the 1.6 !

First thank you all for your answers.

it is possible that you became accustomed to the worn out shocks, and that new shocks feel too hard, because you have driven too much on old ones.
any good name brand will be within specifications for the OEM shocks.

As I have already said, the black Bilstein are hard, I understand this when I transport 4 passengers and the car is reacting more correctly.
Especially in transverse road pits I feel that the rear axle bounces.

Like I said, I tried the orange KYB.
In the first 20000 kilometers these were softer than Bilstein.
Then they became hard and unbearable.

I'm thinking of Sachs or Boge , now i will give a search for Gabriel.

The reason I opened this issue is to find a solution, since experiments in this area are expensive.:)

Finally my mechanic at the authorized workshop where I go for service found a set of shock absorbers Boge and installed them, very good in driving and safety, but they are a little harder than the original ones, so I lose a little in comfort but gain in safety
