Hi, could I ask for some help please with my none starting Bravo 1.2 16v 2001.

My car has been running great, no issues at all. I went to start the car this morning and it would not start. It turns over OK, but does not make any attempt to start. I pulled a spark plug out and checked for a spark when the engine is been cranked. There is absolute nothing, the ignition system appears to be dead.

Any advice on what might of caused this and how I can check it would be really helpful as I am struggling to fix it.

Many thanks

Hi, I've got a similar thing with my 2001 1.2 Brava since I dismantled some of the engine management bits in order to get at the starter motor hidden at the back of the engine.

I haven't fully worked my way through it but have tried all the obvious things.

I think I've either forgotton to reconnect something or disturbed / damaged something like a connector pin.

When I turn on the ignition there is no sound from the bulkhead of the ignition / injection starting uop and whining, and looking at the dash there are no "engine" and "immobiliser" (key) lights coming on and then going out again when all is well. So some part of the system is not being enabled or is not getting power.

I've been through a lot of the fuses around the car and they all seem fine.

I am suspicious of the connector on the starter that takes a live feed off into the loom... there are 4 wires (2 thin and 2 thicker) but one of the thicker ones has been snipped off at some time. I presume it's not vital since everything basically worked for years except for sluggish starting sometimes.

Hope you find something.. let us know if the injection wakes up when you turn the key buit it could be an immobiliser type issue.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

"Hope you find something.. let us know if the injection wakes up when you turn the key buit it could be an immobiliser type issue".

I think that you are right about an immobilizer issue. This morning the car would not start on the blue key. I noticed that the amber code light was on so I tried the red key. The car started but the code light stayed on for about 5 minuets, then it went off. Now the car starts on any key with no code light. All very strange. Happy that it is now running again, but worried I am going to be left stranded somewhere as I do not have any idea as to what ha caused this.

It has now been a couple of days since the immobilizer shut the car systems down without any further trouble, thankfully. So I guess it must have been some kind of key issue.
