Hi all.

I've noticed my 99 HGT 155 has a really poor condition throttle body hose (in between the MAF and throttle body). Never mind split it is torn through about 75% of its circumference!

Obviously this needs replacing ASAP as I believe it is the cause of the lack of top end power I'm currently experiencing.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction of where to find one?

If they're not available anywhere then does anyone know the dimensions of the connection to the throttle body? I can try and put something together with silicone then.
I seriously don't want to try and remove my hose of fear of it just crumbling!!

Hi,
I'd try the companies making silicone induction kits. They should be able to sell you just the hose you instead of a full kit. Otherwise its probably a main dealer, special order part.

After your suggestion I had a look about and found a company that used to make a kit for the 2.0 HGT but this was long since discontinued. :(

But, they were very helpful and highlighted the part number of the hose.

He seemed to think it is still available from Fiat so I'll try and ring my dealer (again) but there is a company that makes them and is available here, happy days :)

The HGT is saved :D

Seems I spoke too soon.

The part is absolutely not available from Fiat, just to rub it in they said it would have been £47ish if it was still available...

Also, I tried to order from that above site only to have my order cancelled the next day as it's not made by the aftermarket company any more either and they just forgot to pull it from their site so back to square one again, sigh...

Nope, it is such a rare car over here that it's difficult to find model specific parts.
I inquired with a guy that was breaking one but that was split too, the one on his other had gone too. He had another guy asking for it as well.

Feel your pain mate. Sometimes it so hard to find the part your after or at least sort out some suitable alternative.
Personally I'd probably take as many measurements as possible. Diameter, length etc.
Then search locally for a decent scrap yard and just go and have a poke around over all makes and models of cars.
You MAY find something on any make of car that you can adapt/fabricate to fix and seal your split part. Apart from that try looking and making enquires on Ebay Italy. Will need to translate and spend a load of time though.

Good luck. [emoji106]

You'll find this issue on a surprising amount of 90's Fiats, many Coupes, Bravo/Bravas, mk1 Punto all have torn intake hoses, obviously they weren't made to last this long (n) Its mainly through years of having to twist and tug them to replace the air filter at every service that eventually tears them. I replaced the one on my mk1 Punto with some regular silicon hose but it hadn't split near the oil breather or a sensor so just a plain piece was needed, I think you'd need to get something made up to replace yours...

eBay Italy is a good site for finding Fiat parts. Even though I don't think you will find a new one myself. I purchased a split pipe from a 1.8 in a scrap yard with the intention of posting it to a place that makes silicon pipes.

I am sure you could make something from generic silicone pipes and couplers. The resonator connection is not even required so I would not bother re-engineering that on, but the oil breather is necessary in my opinion.

If you still lack top end power when your pipe is replaced try driving the car with the MAF unplugged. If your car is normal like that the MAF needs replacing.

Sadly finding parts on the internet has been made more difficult than it could be by all these stupid false websites listing every part number as available. I have wasted so much time in the past talking to these companies.

Thanks for the input everyone so far :)

That's my plan really, but I need to know the diameter of what I need to order, scared to take mine apart to measure as it's really quite bad, I need to grow a pair I think :)

Yes, tell me about it, very frustrating!! Why have items on you site that you don't sell? It just removes any credibility they might have had!
