Hi
I'm upgrading my 1995 Fiat Bravo from 14" wheels to 15" wheels and tyres, anybody out there with previous experience and reccomendations please?

Tyre height is the only real concern. It is best to maintain the same overall diameter of the tire so that your speedometer will stay accurate, so you need to have a smaller side wall than you did with the tire on the 14" rim.

If you are going wider, that you also need to be concerned about clearance with the fenders and other parts of the car which may want to rub if you hit a bump or while turning.


When you move up to 15 you will have shorter sidewalls, improving cornering performance, but decreasing ride quality specially on pot holes etc.


Remember that speedometer and Odometers need to be recalibrated

SEARCH on here is excellent,

as stated ideally you want to keep the rolling diameter the same for speedo accuracy,
there are MANY wheel swap threads mainly in GP section - some great info on comparison charts . etc.

the thing to remember is your Bravo/a and my marea are on 4 x 98 PCD wheel hubs,
so the OLD FIAT range is fine , the stilo was on 15" as standard,

Stick to standard Fiat wheel and tyre sizes. You may find some Punto Mk2 wheels (e.g. Sporting / HGT) to fit quite easily, otherwise genuine Brava / Bravo / Marea or even Multipla wheels. 15" x 6J. Stylewise, either sporty or classy styles were available.

Earlier alloy wheels were thicker through the holes, so need longer wheel bolts.

Correct tyre size is 185/55 x 15, great compromise between looks / grip / ride / economy.
